oh my god that was a struggle to get through. I know Sony conferences are typically boring but jesus.

Very surprising that a Japanese consoles isn't releasing in japan till feb next year when its hitting here in November. How times have changed. Nowhere was that demonstrated more by the visual quality of the Japanese games shown here which look several generations behind at times not just one.

Deep down looked pretty disappointing all round. Not just the visual downgrade, which I guess was to be expected, but it simply looks like they've literally mashed Darksouls and assassins creed together.

And please tell me that's not Nolan north voicing watchdogs??

well Sony knows the Xbox One won't sell in Japan, and they see how enormous the demand for the PS4 is in North America, so it was a numbers game. It may be disappointing for Japanese gamers, but Sony knows they will sell out their shipments of the PS4 there, regardless.

Bleached LoL, you just lost all cred saying Deep down looked disappointing.

The game looks true next gen, The best fire fx seen so far on any platform, dragons with high quality shaders, tessellation, true hdr lighting, high poly characters. There was no visual downgrade.

Shame skyrim had such crap looking dragons.

You're crazy if you think it looks the same as the first reveal, and i'm sure you along with the other sony faithful would be picking away at it if it was xbox exclusive or even multiplatform. But regardless, its not the visuals but more the crappy hamfested story and acting that's usually attached to Capcom games, and the fact that it looks like a knock off of demon/dark souls mixed with the futuristic flip flopping of assassins creed - where I fully expect revelations of evil twins, long lost sisters ect will come into play

Reading your comment got me even more hyped for "Deep Down". If it's anything like Demon'/Dark Souls, then I'm there! Now as for the graphics, I'm not concerned because this game is still early in development. It's gonna look like the first trailer, if not better. This game is coming out for that biblical BEAST, known as the PS4 afterall.

This is essentially my base level expectations for next gen visuals. Tons of dynamic effects, amazing shaders, awesome textures, "thick" atmosphers. Jaw dropping lighting. The fact it looks lile the souls games gameplay wise is just a cherry on the cake. The visuals are amazing. But the prospect of a REAL co-op game like demon's souls...frankly. That excites me in ways it shouldn't..lol. If i can ignore the crappy "story" of demons souls/dark souls. Then i should be able to ignore the voice work and and crappy "japanese" molodramatic music...hopefully.

KORNdog, change your name to "SONYcheerleader" the ammount of blindess and biase in your comments is so high it gives me cancer, a game from another console comes up, you probably spend the entire day looking for crap to say about the game, a ps game comes out "OMG I WET MYSELF ITS SOO GOOOOOOODDD" I wish I could ignore your comments before I die with cancer.

I personally find your comments often hilarious. GTA5 show a couple of bullshots and its "what else have they lied about!! we can never trust them!!" end of the world drama stuff. Yet this, driveclub ect do the usual sony thing of originally revealing a game with visuals that the games later don't live up to and you're all over it making yourself "wet".

Unless it's sony exclusive you take great delight in doing the internet thing of picking away at to anal levels. Funny stuff.

Ok. And this bothers you, why?

Also. GTAV screen weeks before release, after the game has gone gold. Compared to 2 games that are still in development, one of which continues to improve and looks to be shaping up well. If deep down releases a screenshot a week before release with a fucking axis arrow in shot. Trust me. Id be making as big a deal about that too.

heh it doesn't bother me at all, like I said, I find you hilarious. You and those other guys simply made the GTA5 thread the other day embarrassing ..reminded me of those guys who spend their lives blogging about how a cup in a film was half full one scene but 3 quarters full the next.

And it's not like we haven't seen gameplay footage of GTA5 before.

But you're correct it is different, One (GTA5) does the standard PR bullshot thing where they brushed up pictures from the actual game. Where as the other (which sony do a lot of) pass off video footage as the actual game when its not.

And yet Rockstar you rightly or wrongly can nolonger trust, but sony you'd trust with a gun to your head. If you cant see the hypocrisy in your posts then nothing I write is gonna have you do so, but don't be surprised when people call you up on it

I clearly does bother you. And the question remains...why? I think if you dig deep enough within you'll see the hypocrisy runs much deeper then me and my preferences. And frankly, that's true for most of the people here. The only difference is, my preferred system isn't the same as everyone else's. You think you or anyone else here would be screaming "wahhhh, fanboy, wahhhh" if i was creaming over ryse? No...you wouldn't

heh it really doesn't bother me. And I agree that publishers/devs shouldn't mislead us in any fashion.. be it attempting to pass off footage of a game when its clearly not, or throw bullshots at us.

But if you're going to have principles about something you really should carry those principles to all games, not give free passes to games that carry a sony exclusive sticker. As then posts just end up comedic..which is fine, but soon there's always that danger of becoming boring.

I'm just looking out for you baby!

Woah. The generalisation. I tend to not call too many people on where their allegiance falls on this site as I'm content with where my allegiance lies and that is gaming. I think peoples main beef is with the wild slew of adjectives that people use similar to this:
Posted by KORNdog

With the obligatory "negative" end sentence to seemingly balance out the statement, not singling you out KORNdog, just using you as an immediate example.

When people make statements like that, but tend to not notice the linear slow paced nature of the four-walled dungeon crawling theme of the game that permits "Tons of dynamic effects, amazing shaders, awesome textures, "thick" atmosphers. Jaw dropping lighting", in some cases it throws integrity into question.

I think Infamous SS is probably the best example of next gen that manages to find that sweet spot and to me looks the most impressive.

But in all honesty I'm not fussed, just felt like responding to that generalisation as part of the general pool on gamersyde.

To conclude: MG: Rising was my favourite game this year and one of the most intense battle systems I have had the pleasure of experiencing, yet I will always admit where it's flaws are, which is what I think bleachedsmiles has a veiled problem with where your zealous praise of Deep Down is concerned.

I see impressive visuals as just that. Scale doesn't factor into for me. If i'm having to follow up "the game looks amazing" with "for an open world game", then, by default it is not as an impressive looking a game as it could and potentially should be. That's not to say open world games can't impress. As you said, second son manages to, as does division. But this has taken the cake for me. I admitidly had pretty damn high expectations for next gen, and i was getting to the point of admitting they may be unrealistic. But this ticks all the boxes of what i imagined it would look like...at least early on. I have no doubt things will improve.

When it comes to graphics "compromise" is not a word i want to associate with a game. And sadly open world games, even the impressive looking ones, are inherently compromised.
