SHIFT 2 on the starting grid

SHIFT 2 on the starting grid

SHIFT 2 Unleashed will be available over the next few days, so EA has published its traditional launch trailer. Whereas its driving stirs up a lot of questions, one has to admit that the game is visually impressive.

Lol I'm not sure what ppl are on but the graphics still don't match up to GT, the road textures still look like cartoony textures from Forza3. The only major advancement in the shift series are the sounds. OMG they sound good

@newbielives:

Who said the graphics have to match up to GT5?

It looks fantastic whether it's technically better than GT5 or not.

Yeah this game graphically looks superb, the cars look better than 800 of the GT5 cars and the tracks look alot better... sounds alot better and my money is on the gameplay being far better.

Well. That's true.Developer make their game looks like they want it looks. But GT is still car porn. Even 10 yrs old GT3 looks way more realistic than this. So I'm after GT, but car and track list of Shift 2 is really stunning!

wait, so, you want to have the sex with a car? This sounds like a Japanese thing.

I don't see racing professionals using Shift2 as a training simulator where I do see them using GT5 to learn a track. Not sure how Shift2 can be a racing simulator if you can't simulate driving in the first place

Difference is...Shift is a racing game not a "training simulator" as you say!

Right, either you have a serious visual impairment or a mental disability that causes you to deceive yourself, lest you are wrong.

I'd bet that this game is, technically, pretty close to GT5. Certainly it's more consistent. The difference is in the art direction. Clearly this game has gone for a more exotic or aggressive atmosphere; lighting and colours.

Nooooo. No way. Not a chance in hell. When any Need for Speed game can do 16 500,000 poly cars on track at once while maintaining 60fps and a 1080p res then we'll talk. Until then it's a looooong way off technically, being only 720p, 30fps and only 8 far lower polycount cars on track at once

Ok, I've played it now for a good 3 hours and boy oh boy oh boy, if the game would be half as good as EA's marketing, then it would be decent. If you didn't like Shift1 there is no chance in hell you will like this. If you are after a Sim, forget about it. If you're looking for good wheel support, think again. Improved graphics maybe? Nope, actually worse. But again, Kudos to EA for a great marketing campaign... Ah yes, helmet cam, lol, all it does is to focus on the apex of a corner, especially annoying when you want to overtake. It also gives you the feeling that the car moves to that direction. You have been warned!

thats all good but GT5 graphics style is awful. the game looks very average cause of it

but i understand you are talking about the technical side of it but meh lol

for me PGR4/Dirt2 looks better then GT5

Yeah, not all races have 16 in GT, and probably 50/75% those are "standard" cars. That 500,000 number is not in-race anyway. I wasn't gonna say anything, but some of you GT fanboys are getting really irritating. That game is not that good. Bring on the bullet baby...

Not all races have 16 cars at once, yet some do. Plus that 500,000 number is indeed in-game (when full LOD, which is achieved ingame believe it or not)

Again, this is in a different league, technically, to 8 ~200,000 poly cars @720p, 30FPS

strange as to how you have actually played it when its still not out yet, infact even stranger is how you constantly go on about EA marketing yet the videos on this site clearly shows a lot of graphical improvement over the previous game, also over on SRT on youtube they have a video from a electronics show using a new race wheel with hydrolic seat mounts 3 screens and looks like the handling has vastly improved, so much for having played it you sound just like all the other desperate GT fanboys jelous that shift 2 is scoring much higher than GT5, sorry but you just need to get over your selfs.
It is out on the interwebs now, apparently. Maybe that's where he got it from?

as for the Gran Turismo business... stop feeding the trolls. Turns the whole thread sour :(

the only trolls are the sad pathetic GT fanboys that refuse to accept GT has flaws of its own, i wont say that GT3 A-Spec is worse as that is my favorite GT game however GT5 is worse as it may have over 1000 cars ect but it all gets so boring too quickly also i dont know where these GT fanboys are getting there info on shift 2 for things like poly counts especially when no one actually uses polys anymore they use triangles (definition of polygon = flat shaded shape with 4 angles), maybe these GT trolls should re educate them selfs rather than feeding constant misinformation about a game they have 1 not even played and 2 dont like when another multiplat gets better review scores than their current sim, GT5 may have been the best sim on the ps3 but its not the best sim racer out there as there are far better sims on the pc ect.

just 1 last thing to give to all the sad trolls that think 60 fps @ 1080p make the game more realistic "burnout paradise" say no more 100% arcade 0% realistic "race pro" 30 fps @ 720p" 100% realistic 0% arcade, fps and 1080p mean nothing its all to do with physics "constant reminders from GT fans comparing to forza 3".
Guess you didn't read the second part of what I wrote. You sound mad. Cool it, the internet, contrary to popular belief, isn't serious business. Not everyone has the same opinion mang.

Oh god the second paragraph you've wrote is much of the same...
Commented on 2011-03-29 02:41:28
much of the same what ???, having owned NFSS forza 3 and GT5 my opinion is based on what was being said at the time of each of these game release and the majority of the moaning was from GT fans, now you said about feeding trolls (GT fanboys basicly) yet you said nothing about the constant crap these sad trolls keep spewing all over this thread or in fact any thread to do with NFSS2 like 16 500.000 poly cars on track @1080p @ 60fps no other racing game does that, hmm ok i smell BS that is complete rubbish as iRacing on pc can host 50 player races where the cars are at least 300k triangles each running between 30-60 fps @ over 1080p. basicly its just the GT trolls cant get their own way and are just looking for excuses to make them feel better, well NFSS2 is going to be a multiplat so it will be on the ps3 simple really, its just that easy.
