Skyrim getting Kinect support

Skyrim getting Kinect support

Kinect support is coming to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It will be available for free as an update this month and will feature more than 200 Voice Commands (and yes, including dragon shouts). Bethesda will reveal the full list of voice commands in the coming weeks.

Wait...they add the function to sort items by weight or value with your voice...but not with buttons?

LOL, it doesnt make the game automatically better.
Instead of wasting time on this they should continue to polish up the combat which is poor as it comes.

But I guess they want to ride the gimmickwagon.

Only thing I saw that was good was the quick save and quick load and the obvious, Fus Ro Dah, but will get boring after the first few times you use it.

Happy to see Skyrim follow in the path of other hardcore titles (Forza4, Halo Ann, Mass Effect 3, Ghost Recon etc) and support Kinect where it makes most sense and actually enhances the experience. Not having to pause gameplay and enter into menus to pull off certain things like control NPCs or pull off moves is great and exactly what we hardcore Kinect fans wanted...a companion device for the standard gamepad experience, not a replacement. Great job.

I wouldn't be surprised to see even more Kinect support for it later on. Bethseda were obviously embarrassed by the fact that right after release somebody made the game have full (I think full, I can't remember exactly but at least 90%+) Kinect support on the PC whereas Bethesda hadn't done anything on the Xbox 360 version:

Looks like a cool feature. Does PC-version get this feature? I like how they're slowly bringing the fruits of the Game Jam to Skyrim.

I hope they didn't waste too much time on this. At least they got most of the bugs squashed before they played around with this stuff. I really don't feel the need to yell FUS RO DA at my tv, or say "generic.ally.attack.enemy" as opposed to pressing a button.

These kinds of things will be cool in 3-4 console generations when they can actually figure out proper dictation and we can have full on conversations with AI. For now, they just feel gimicky. So I yell fus ro da, then wait a half second, then hear my character yell fus ro da, then see some fus ro da action happening on screen? WOW, it's like magic!

If you click on the link I posted I think that guy has links to the software needed for the PC version.

Voice commands? No thanks. Maybe if I was 12 I would be interested in that sort of thing, but as a grown adult, I'd feel like a bit of a cock shouting fus-ro-da at the screen. One for the super nerds, I reckon.

It's always the way when a external hardware add-on gets made for any console ever created. It shows potential, but ultimately in the end, the developers really don't give two flying f*cks about it, so they half arse projects and it ends up either failing or just becomes an expensive gimmick. The Kinect has so much more uses and ideas that can actually enhance proper games for the hardcore, the thing is, gaming is so mainstream now, we'll be very lucky to see any kind of proper integration that we'd all like to see in a proper game. I for one would love to see a revamp of a survival horror using a 1st person view where you have the option to physically peek around corners to see what's there, or a game like Metal Gear where the same idea would be very intuitive for that type of gameplay, but we'll never see it.

PS Move, looks abandoned. Sixaxis, same thing. Kinect will meet its fate as well at some point.

I for one will never use anything but the good old gamepad.
I tried Wii and PS Move (RE5) to know motion controller isnt for me, so Kinect is worse since (tried one of the bundle games at my cousins place, he is like 12 years old).
Even he said it was horribly boring and then he returned the 360+Kinect and got an PS3 instead.

When a kid in that age says Kinect is bad and they prefer controllers then it makes you wonder lol

I sorta doubt it. Kinect didn't flop. Move did.

Its a shame really, but I am not seeing Kinect getting any high praise either, except from the Core-guy here :P

asdfg I liked Geoffs speech. For once something actually felt real at the otherwise so corporate TGA. (8 minutes ago)

KORNdog @Moonwalker: as i said, they're friends. not just "we see each other once ever 5 years at an award show" "friends". but actual friends. things were obviously going to be personal. (1 Hour ago)

Moonwalker @KORNdog: Nothing with calling the company out but we had that last year already. And showing Hideo respect is cool but I thought this was way too much. (1 Hour ago)

KORNdog back to geoff though, i honestly appreciated seeing some emotion come from those cold, dead mountain dew sponsored eyes. the guy is a lifeless husk most of the time. (1 Hour ago)

KORNdog "Dreamfall Chapters will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One both physically and digitally for $29.99 / €29,99 / £24,99 via publisher Deep Silver on March 24, 2017" finally! (2 Hours ago)

KORNdog @Moonwalker: i think they've been friends for years. when you have a stage, why not use it to call out a company and their BS? (2 Hours ago)

Moonwalker @Tiz: Agreed. (2 Hours ago)
