As long as they change the awful controls of the first Mafia, it'll be good. I mean, it was SO difficult to properly aim.

Looks great but if it came down to it I'd choose GTA4 over this. Graphics will only get you so far.

Day 1

I've said it other times but the story in Mafia was really annoying to me. I'll use this as an opportunity to elaborate on that. The main character IS given EVERYTHING by the mob, and he turns on them for really dumb reasons. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you, I don't like playing as a foolish ungrateful bastard.

As far as the gameplay, it's funny because Mafia really locks you into an extremely linear mode of play once a mission begins. Everything from the rooftops level to the farm on the rainy night... extremely linear play.

Finally on the graphics, I think this game does look good in screenshots, but I think GTAIV is going to blow it away in motion. I've seen lots of the leaked GTAIV videos, and the animation system is unrivaled. This game will probably look like a pretty Mafia 1 in motion.

How do you draw up such assumptions? I've seen said GTA videos and it does indeed look fantastic, but what's to say this wont be even better in motion?

Because the talk of the new systems being used in GTAIV went on for a long time and I've heard nothing from the Mafia 2 people about how the game will innovate at all. That's really what it's about. Perhaps they'll start talking about it soon.

I see GTA IV in motion and ask how can another sanbox game really top that.
Then Mafia II appeared... it's like night from day, sooo much better.

I am just stunned, really really really stunned! Now only the story needs to be as good as the first game and this is the perfect game.

no way will the console version look this good! I mean they got softshadows everywhere! But I played the first one on PC anyway :P

They've done such an excellent job with the skin textures and tonality. It actually looks like skin instead of plastic!
