stop already with the touched up screens, give us screen-grabs.

Looks so good. But like Penny Arcade says: It can only end in two ways. Either the boy dies, or the baby gryphon dies.

I can't wait for this trilogy to end. I want this team to do something new and fresh...so far most of their games have been very emotional.

I personally want them to make a Zelda clone

The trailer alone was emotion-tastic (new word, folks).

ICO + Shadow Of The Colossus = Two of the best game sI've ever played and this can only be better I think (from what we saw so far).

Nothing to do but wait for this one..I'll go on media blockout I think now for this game so everything will be a surprise :)

Amazing. I actually thought along the same lines. Colour me (us) surprised if they both make it out alive! The trailer had atmosphere coming out of its nose, so I'm really interested in it. The boy seems a bit bland, suppose the figure will get some retouching done before final release.

But erm, so will everything else. Do we even know how the game will be played? Perhaps it really will be Zelda'esque. No problems with that.

Go watch the trailer. There you'll see the game.

I think it'll come close to Shadow of the Colossus. Nothing on-screen, just you and a huge open world.

----

About which of the two dying. I think none of them dies. We don't even know why that boy was there, why does the griffon run after the boy and actually saves him?

It's sure going to be huge heights where you can oversee a lot of land and enormous buildings or ruins and only you and that griffon.

My guess is that the boy accidentally releases the creature, and it becomes bonded to him.

New and fresh? What games are comparable to Team Ico games, and I'm not even considering quality. Just play Zelda. Why would you want a Zelda clone?

Baby Gryphon could choke while eating the boy = both die + betrayal + awesome twist.

Can't wait to step into this world.

It would be heart breaking if at the end, to fight for his freedom the boy has to kill the animal, maybe because the animal is bound to the place, but his affection that has nurtured over the course of the game, manifests itself in a blind rage, because after all they've been through he will now desert him.

I would prefer they made a Zelda game or a remake of SotC.

Anybody who's asking for "real" screenshots obviously haven't played any Team ICO game. The final product always look amazing and at least on-par if not better than the trailer.

Basically every generation people get more and more wrapped up in graphics. I'm more curious about what the gameplay will be like. The scene where he throws something at an enemy reminded me a lot of Ico. Which could be good or bad, depending on how much of a true evolution it is. Just updating the graphics won't cut it for me. I want next gen gameplay, not just next gen graphics.

I also wouldn't mind a game this time with some actual replay value. But I'm sure they atmosphere of this game will be second to none. Just hope the actaul gameplay is as well this time...

I don't know, that first pic looks like it could be an actual screen grab. Unlike all the others it doesn't appear to have the obvious post processing effects, HDR, etc, applied to it. Instead, the colors are rich and vibrant. To me anyway, it looks like it could be the real deal.
Commented on 2009-06-11 16:04:22
Of course it's the real deal, the game looks the same (even better) in the trailer which was captured from gameplay.

don't overthink things people.
Not even looking @ the pictures, some are hot some are PS2 "Shadow of the Colossus hello there" quality, doesn't bother much.
Its just the images size just makes no sense... why the rectangular shapes? To Hide the barren parts and only focus on the boy&ratbird action (no second intention, rly)? Yhea fine, but if I can't use it as a wallpaper, then just stop.

??? the detail in that shot is impressive...you are tripping... also, the perspective is artistic choice...it should be obvious

what? Look at the boy's textures and the walls straith from SotC.

I may have consider that really good for a 2005 Tech, but not for a Tech on a 2010 game in a new plataform doing nothing more than some extra stuff like feather animation and more polys.
Maybe i've been spoiled, or the use of the same engine and assets seems underwhelming or the console can't handle more on the engine ( if it's 60 fps i'll take my hat off ), but that is that, doesn't seem noting more than been there seen that feeling, nothing really new.
And consider that going from Ico to SotC the difference was tangible.

And...
This isn't an art exposition, it's a frickin' game, stop with the pretencious bullshit about art Ueda. Again, give screen-grabs or just add that stuff to the artwork department.

About the game

What's up?
  • droezelke
droezelke @Moonwalker: I know hdr makes a difference. However, is it worth 1000+ euro's? (1 Hour ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Yea that's sorta like turning up the "digital vibrance" setting in the Nvidia control panel. Without HDR we're just seeing more saturated colors. (6 Hours ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts If it was, that would be great as there would be no need to buy a HDR TV to watch HDR content as any SDR screen would be able to show HDR the same as HDR screens. I wish it was like that though. (8 Hours ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts Mostly what you can see is a richer color palette due to a wider color gamut and bloom/brightness. Though it's not the same, unfortunately. (8 Hours ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts You can see it here in both the "Nano Cell" and "HDR" sections on this LG TV: [url] It's still not the same as watching in person. SDR screens can't show HDR. (8 Hours ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts @Moonwalker: Yes, you can see a difference, but only on colors and bloom. It's the same type of thing that TV manufacturers use to describe what HDR is with images. same. (8 Hours ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker @droezelke: Trust me though, the phone camera photos are pretty representatitve of how they look here. (13 Hours ago)
