I also really miss Sam's original voice done by Michael Ironside. That alone almost makes it a different game.
I understand that it isn't exactly the same team making this game, but I hope it turns out to be a really strong effort.
Last gen, SC was one of my favorite IPs, this gen I haven't barely played any of them.
Double Agent was technically very poor and the direction it took with Convition was a straight punch into my ballsack.
I remeber when I first played SC1...goddamn, the atmosphere and the gfx were next to notging imo...
P.S. The story-line has always been shit!
Sometimes, I really dont understand to people here. I will play it for sure and it looks very nice. Game looks ALWAYS better in motion. But obviously many of You know how to calculate proper shadows and lighting on these pictures to imagine it in motion.
Motion isn't going fix it.

As much as I love the Splinter Cell series and will take it over MGS in a heartbeat, I see some horribly flat texture work here. It looks like a DX9 game. It looks nice and clean though so if the frame rate is smooth the game will still look good.

For me, splinter cell died, as soon as it saw the light of day....if you know what I mean.

My idea of evolving the series would NOT have included COD airstrikes and massive shootouts, Assassins creed style one button environment navigation and hand to hand combat, and Fallout style auto-kills. It also would not have included immersion killing projector screens that plaster words and objectives all over your environment, world color draining stealth indication, enemy outlines and icons, and other things that are there solely for the "casual cool factor", and would be much more easily served with simple audio cues that don't remove all sense of immersion. Don't even get me started on making Sam magically look 20 years younger and not bringing back Michael Ironside...
On top of all that, Ubi has the gall to accuse the fans of a "kneejerk reaction" after deciding the show the first footage of Sam rampaging through the Middle East stabbing everyone in face while running full speed through a daytime map and calling in C-130 strikes. They then turn the criticism of the torture scene around to the detractors and say if it makes us uncomfortable, maybe we should think about the price we pay for driving our sedans and SUV's. I say F-U Ubisoft, and way to alienate and lose your loyal fanbase.
Is this game going to be as bad as the last one?? Or is it going in the older direction or an even newer direction? Is it a different team from the last game?
It's all still a lot of work and not final ! Gameplay just changed this week again since a couple of people over in europe complained about it being to easy ! Still lots of work, and inho not as good as it used to be !
Yes,it's partly made by a different team here in China Shanghai !

The new hardware can't come fast enough for me. I'm sick of ugly textures.
Did you know they are still using an updated version of Unreal 2 for this!? Seriously, Unreal 3 came out like 7 years ago, and they are still using the same damn engine from the original Splinter Cell over 10 years ago! If that doesn't show how lazy they have become, I don't know what does. They will probably try to repackage Unreal 2.5.2 for next gen systems and call it a new engine.....
It's a 360/PS3 game, running on 7 year old hardware. If you push visuals further you end up with frame rate disasters like Far Cry 3.
Also, I never had any frame rate issues with FC3 on 360. A fair bit of screen taring, but never noticed any frame drops.
Geez, you don't have yell...lol. Are you sure it is developed in Shanghai? Everything I have read just lists Ubi Toronto as the development team. Maybe they are contracting a few parts of the development out to Shanghai?
But of course we are not doing the complete game here !
Not sure why UBI not lists the people here, maybe they do not like the SH Department!
We have a couple of French Guys here in key positions but mostly Chinese do the rest!
Keeps us all pretty busy for nearly 2 years now.
The worst is nearly everyday we have over time again and again..with no extra payment ! Sucks ! And that people here are unhappy u can feel in the game as well !
Anyway,it's an ok game, not as good as previous installments but ok.
Another thing is,I would say,you can feel that the team is not really happy and tired of it when u play the game ! A lot of this mood went into it by now.
I am pretty sure it Shanghai,I have to face it every working day here !
