Splinter Cell Blacklist images

Splinter Cell Blacklist images

Although we will all have to wait until late August to see if Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist delivers, you won't have to long for these new images anymore.

As much as I love the Splinter Cell series and will take it over MGS in a heartbeat, I see some horribly flat texture work here. It looks like a DX9 game. It looks nice and clean though so if the frame rate is smooth the game will still look good.
I also really miss Sam's original voice done by Michael Ironside. That alone almost makes it a different game.

Series is dead. Don't even know why they're bothering.

Yeah, his costume almost looks like body art painting. I can draw images in pencil that pop more than these textures. I will give it a try though. It's the last Splinter Cell game to grace the current consoles.

Sadly outdated.

Looking nice. It's not about the visuals for me, but about the game itself, and I won't pre-judge its quality until I get my hands on it. That's the least it deserves after, in my view, a fantastic Splinter Cell Conviction.

I understand that it isn't exactly the same team making this game, but I hope it turns out to be a really strong effort.

I hope it looks better in motion.

For me, splinter cell died, as soon as it saw the light of day....if you know what I mean.

Last gen, SC was one of my favorite IPs, this gen I haven't barely played any of them.
Double Agent was technically very poor and the direction it took with Convition was a straight punch into my ballsack.

I remeber when I first played SC1...goddamn, the atmosphere and the gfx were next to notging imo...

P.S. The story-line has always been shit!

I think you guys will change your mind once you realize that the special edition comes with a REMOTE CONTROL PLANE!!!

yeesh...I really thought these were bullshots of a Vita game...in fact I just had to google this game to make sure that wasn't the case (or a PSN/XBLA game). The mighty have truly fallen. I was so psyched about SC1 that I changed from an "Invert-Y" player to a "Standard-Y" player because that was the only option in the OXM demo. Chaos Theory is still one of my FOATs. I dont know about this series any more. It's begging for redemption and this doesn't look like the title to deliver.

Sometimes, I really dont understand to people here. I will play it for sure and it looks very nice. Game looks ALWAYS better in motion. But obviously many of You know how to calculate proper shadows and lighting on these pictures to imagine it in motion.

The game looks horrific. Both technically & artistically.

Motion isn't going fix it.

It's a 360/PS3 game, running on 7 year old hardware. If you push visuals further you end up with frame rate disasters like Far Cry 3.

I honestly think they could have evolved the series to contain some limited daytime gameplay without destroying the soul of the game. They could have done something along the lines of Hitman in which you use a combination of cover, stealth, disguises etc, but still kept it a SPLINTER CELL game.

My idea of evolving the series would NOT have included COD airstrikes and massive shootouts, Assassins creed style one button environment navigation and hand to hand combat, and Fallout style auto-kills. It also would not have included immersion killing projector screens that plaster words and objectives all over your environment, world color draining stealth indication, enemy outlines and icons, and other things that are there solely for the "casual cool factor", and would be much more easily served with simple audio cues that don't remove all sense of immersion. Don't even get me started on making Sam magically look 20 years younger and not bringing back Michael Ironside...

On top of all that, Ubi has the gall to accuse the fans of a "kneejerk reaction" after deciding the show the first footage of Sam rampaging through the Middle East stabbing everyone in face while running full speed through a daytime map and calling in C-130 strikes. They then turn the criticism of the torture scene around to the detractors and say if it makes us uncomfortable, maybe we should think about the price we pay for driving our sedans and SUV's. I say F-U Ubisoft, and way to alienate and lose your loyal fanbase.

Is this game going to be as bad as the last one?? Or is it going in the older direction or an even newer direction? Is it a different team from the last game?

Yes,it's partly made by a different team here in China Shanghai !
It's all still a lot of work and not final ! Gameplay just changed this week again since a couple of people over in europe complained about it being to easy ! Still lots of work, and inho not as good as it used to be !

The new hardware can't come fast enough for me. I'm sick of ugly textures.

Geez, you don't have yell...lol. Are you sure it is developed in Shanghai? Everything I have read just lists Ubi Toronto as the development team. Maybe they are contracting a few parts of the development out to Shanghai?

Agreed. I remember always looking forward to Splinter Cell games, not only for the deep, tactical stealth action, but for the cutting edge visuals and immersion.

Did you know they are still using an updated version of Unreal 2 for this!? Seriously, Unreal 3 came out like 7 years ago, and they are still using the same damn engine from the original Splinter Cell over 10 years ago! If that doesn't show how lazy they have become, I don't know what does. They will probably try to repackage Unreal 2.5.2 for next gen systems and call it a new engine.....

But this game does not very look good even by current gen standards. It's also just ugly in terms of art direction.

Also, I never had any frame rate issues with FC3 on 360. A fair bit of screen taring, but never noticed any frame drops.

I am pretty sure it Shanghai,I have to face it every working day here !
But of course we are not doing the complete game here !

Not sure why UBI not lists the people here, maybe they do not like the SH Department!

We have a couple of French Guys here in key positions but mostly Chinese do the rest!

Keeps us all pretty busy for nearly 2 years now.
The worst is nearly everyday we have over time again and again..with no extra payment ! Sucks ! And that people here are unhappy u can feel in the game as well !

Anyway,it's an ok game, not as good as previous installments but ok.
Another thing is,I would say,you can feel that the team is not really happy and tired of it when u play the game ! A lot of this mood went into it by now.

That's too bad. Sounds like Ubi Toronto treats is employees as poorly as it treats revered tactical game series.

About the game

  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker I checked again, their last broadcast is about 32 minutes and is about the Keep. The one after is from oct 20. (1 Hour ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker @Sdarts: It's going to be the X1 version for me. Hopefully we get to zoom in on characters too. Skyrim and Fallout 3 have that, you can zoom in/out and keep the cam there. (1 Hour ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts DICE helped them a lot with the Frostbite 3 engine and they were able to push the visuals beyond BF4 in some aspects, like the water effects. And it really shows. Too much excited to wait till Nov 18. (1 Hour ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts The camera automatically zooms out when entering combat and zooms in after, but you can change the FOV with the mouse wheel. The visuals look amazing on PC, much more than on PS4 and XBO. (2 Hours ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts @Moonwalker: To access the archived livestream videos, click on BioWare and then on Past Transmissions. Today they showed a new region and a new story quest (but very early, so almost no spoilers). (2 Hours ago)
  • Sath
Sath Main Theme from Lords of the Fallen [url] sounds great to me, kind of getting that Witcher style vibe. (5 Hours ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker I watched the X1 stream again, parts of it, i really hope so much that on console we can zoom on the character and lock it too, it totally kills immersion when camera is so far away. (5 Hours ago)
