super pointless, and not in the fun kind of pointless, mmm im still getting it though

good god, this game has come a long way since the first saints row, and I don't mean that in a good way. its like these developers came up with a huge clusterfuck of "super rad and gnarly...derr...stuff" and jammed it into their game. with all the crap they put into this game I highly doubt any of the multiple gameplay activities will have been givin the care and development time to each be worth playing for long. for example, this jet gameplay...I got bored just watching this video, why would I want to have this last longer then 5 minutes? extremely shallow, and just plain stupid.

now saints row 1, that was a good game because they at least tried to be somewhat serious in its narrative and spent time on making the city look good and fun to mess around in, without FORCING the player to do ridiculous/insane shit like this game does in its narrative. I had fun finding ways to mess around on my own, and now since that is pretty much the whole game mechanic for saints row 3, the choice of playing seriously and being mentally retarded has boiled down to the latter. I enjoy the occasional ridiculous moment, sure, but when the game pretty much throws them out like hotcakes it sort of loses its flare. especially since they promote it in every damn saints row video. not for me, saving my money, and expecting crap reviews.

Reviews may be crap if they give bad scores for this game.
Official Xbox Magazine gave 9.5, which is good, I think.

Couldn't agree more. I may still give this a rent since I enjoyed the first game, but it's like they are trying SOOOO hard to cater to the 12 year old boys, they forgot to make anything deep enough for the rest of us.

Like yourself, I enjoy the occasional goofy moment or over the top wackiness, but I would honestly be embarrassed if anyone I knew saw me playing this. Games like this are why games will never be considered a serious art form. Ohhh look, a giant purple dildo, let me beat that innocent woman to death with it while I burp the alphabet and poop on people. weeeeeee!

Deep and artistic games have their place and silly and fun games have their place. One can enjoy both of them.

its fun no your right and thats why janman said both styles are welcomed, I know when i'll come home after a long day ill just wanna play saints row the third to relax n laugh. And on my days off ill play the next gta when im more into the whole real life feeling

This is just an argument for you to justify why you're not buying the game, and not a well-reasoned critique of the Saint's Row series.

Have you played the game to realise how shallow the activities will be? How does being bored from WATCHNG a VIDEO of a game say anything about your engagement when you're actually playing and in control?

Saint's Row 1 was not serious in its narrative, it was pretty much a gangster film simulator like GTA until it found its identity through characters like Johnny Ghat and ridiculous missions.

Since you haven't played Saint's Row The Third, how do you know if you're forced to do the ridiculous side-activities?

Cant wait for the game. The jet surfing looks fun. Maybe one of the crazy missions will require it.

Everyone should know that Saints Row always had this crazy and funny side next to all the "serious" open world games like GTA. It's like Command & Conquer. Tiberian games = GTA. Red Alert games = Saints Row. So yeah, nothing is wrong having people jet surfing in SR, lol

I have seen the video review and read the written review, pretty much everything I said above was true and I didn't even have to play it. the game is just that predictable. then again, my personal feelings about this was just my opinion, so if this is what you wanted in a game by all means enjoy it. I will be playing Skyrim instead, a game I feel is worth my purchase over...whatever you call this.

Yeah more like biased. This game is pretty offensive and ridiculous that in six years they have not really challenged the GTA series they originally announced to everyone that they were challenging.
