That actually looks really good imo. I know a lot of the hardcore fans will complain that this isn't EXTREME enough, but I never was a huge fan of the over the top grinding of exploding gondola cars in my hot pink jump suit while fireworks are going off stuff that this series is known for. Too "Americanized" as the kids would say.

This video kind of reminds me what I loved about the original SKATE. I was always a big fan of that game and it's take on exploration and finding the perfect line through the environment. If this is anything like that I am in.

Why does that even matter?

Because it is yet another step closer to reality. I remember when ssx was all about make believe characters and make believe worlds, now we're going down real life mountains with real boarders. I'm only this vocal because i actually give a shit about the franchise. If this was any other snowboarding game i wouldnt care.

Unless you have been down the same mountains in the game or know the real snowboarders in the game surly it makes no difference?

Mike Tyson's Punch Out had Mike Tyson in it, as you know, a real boxer. Was that a step closer to reality and did it detract from the rest of the game? That's just one example. I think you'll find it's a moot point and a bit silly to complain about such a thing.

Can't have a non ps3 exclusive/ssx post without KORNdog crying, but you can't please everybody the world is going to have someone like him.

Did anyone else see the IGN live stream vid yesterday? Looked terrific, gameplay looked so smooth and fluid and survival looks more interesting than I previously thought. Hope they do have some genuinely difficult tracks like they claim. The dynamically remixing music sounds very cool to, loving the potential of the soundtrack being awsome. Sure they base their mountains of real life data etc, but like they said, they took liberties and by the looks of things they took big liberties in track design.

THPS had real people in it. That game was wicked realistic. I think we just had a discussion about it.

About the game

What's up?
  • alimokrane
alimokrane On a different subject all together. if only the entire world acted like this: [url] (10 minutes ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz Gears 4 is a refinement of the Gears 3 formula, which is great if you loved Gears 3. @alimokrane: I'm partial to the Embar & Overkill. (24 minutes ago)
  • alimokrane
alimokrane @Phaethon360: I agree on the enemy variety, definataly but I simply love the little tricks and bits they added here and there. Best weapon has to be the DropShot. Ball of fun! (26 minutes ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz But with regards to variety, do you mean enemy variety? Because I agree. That is spot on. Gears 3 had so many different Locust & Lambent classes which kept Horde rounds fresh, Gears 4 does not. (46 minutes ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz PhaeKO outta nowhere. Rod said he wanted to do it right before doing it different and 343 were the blueprint for this which is why a lot of the Gears community still remains intact. (49 minutes ago)
  • Phaethon360
Phaethon360 That and the variety just isn't there. So many different enemy and weapon types in Gears 2, which was the high point of the series for me. Gears 3 wasn't bad but it was on the downswing for me. (53 minutes ago)
  • Phaethon360
Phaethon360 I really dislike Gears 4. Horde 3.0 was a disappointment, and the mechanics haven't changed much since Gears 1. After playing the remake so soon it just felt like more of the same. (55 minutes ago)
