Announce more old characters you've played for decades already
Yeah Street Fighter 5 is all about safe choices. Like Rainbow Mika and Karin.
...lol.
There are still two more entirely new characters coming and even the "safe" choices have been overhauled in pretty significant ways. Do you think that fans would prefer something like Soul Calibur V, where nearly the whole roster was new? Yeah people loved that.
I'd like a Street Fighter game with an entirely new roster of characters.
So which "new" character will they announce next? Honda perhaps? Vega? Guile? I'm sure whoever it is it will be an absolute shock and in no way entirely predictable.

Well SCV was maybe a poor example since Capcom has already tried this too. Street Fighter 3 is mostly new characters... and everyone wanted their favorites back.

You're obviously paying a loads of attention to this game. Vega is already in it and several returning characters have not appeared in Street Fighter since the Alpha series. The next new character will be a new character.
I don't know what's all that hubbub about characters looking plastic and uncanny. SFIV used a cartooney design/rendering style, and the series certainly never aimed for realism (as well as almost every japanese fighter).

...it doesn't even look artistic, up close anyways. Their conversion between hand drawn art to 3D seems to translate loosely with the hair on a few characters in this version.

For all you casuals and trolls, nothing will be good enough. I for one, as a member of the FGC and who has competed, welcome old faces, especially if the refresh has actual improvements. I don't even like Zangief and this one looks AWESOME!
It's like bitching about a new Corvette or Porsche or Ferrari. GAWD! They SUCK! They didn't make their entire line up from NEW cars that no one's heard of! RAWR!!!!
I agree. I don't like this style, but I understand it's part of it's design. It's not Virtua Fighter.
Nothing is Virtua Fighter, because VF died LONG BEFORE anyone could make anything that WASN'T stylized. You must be assuming that VF would look like Last of Us, but with combat or something. Doubt it. It would probably look a lot like DOA, minus the boobs.

SF3 was mostly new characters yes, and most people consider it still the best Street Fighter ever made
Third Strike's popularity has almost nothing to do with its roster and more to do with it being an incredible game. "Informed" nonsense.
Soul Calibur V is widely regarded as the best Soul Calibur since SC2 too, and yet in the recent character poll none of the SCV characters appeared in the top 25. Shockingly franchise fans like their favorite characters.

Here, for all you BITCHING and moaning about new characters, as if the roster isn't chock full of them.

of course it's artistic decision. what else is it?
i prefer the new one by a large margin, but then i found SF4's art style to be fucking horrendous. lol
It's the same art style as SF4, with different hair rendering and of course tweaked lighting. MVC3's character designs were the best imo.
Hopefully The next MVC game does the art style to sweet justice, either that or Tekken X Street fighter.
--------------------
It's not about looking realistic with me in particular, the realistic renders do look breathtaking. It's the flair in particular, capcom picked the right engine. UE4 though is capable of more artistic hair features. UE4 is capable of many different combinations of art styles. This game feels more like an extension of SF4.

His chest hair looks static and glued on. other than that he looks pretty much Zangief. The 3D artists seem to have issues with many types of hair.

His hair in SF4 was way more sensible artistically.

Compared to now where it's all wood chips sticking to his chest.

Face hair too looks better in SF4.

....it's like the 3D artists ran out of better ideas for rendering the hair out of in game graphics.

Maybe Capcom will get it right in SFVI ?
