The rumor was getting stronger each day, and now it's official: Super Street Fighter IV is coming next Spring! 8 new characters, new Ultra Combos and of course many tweaks will be included. Screens and teaser trailer inside.
@ Frozpot: Its not gonna be released as DLC. Yoshinori Ono mentioned in an interview that it will be released on disc, but not for the full price of a retail game. So its all good. Looking forward to picking this up.
So, i just wan't to know something. I buy this game and then i'll have two SF4 games, just that one of them is the better one, right? And the better one is supposed to retail at less price, now that is great news! If i did understand the news right :p (because when something is so good to be true i tend to get it wrong).
If it's the case, then it's a must for people that didn't buy the first game and like SF, i guess...
I'll probably just wait for the xbox 720 and get the remake of the remake of street fighter 4, no wait, I'll hold off for a few months after the release and get the remake of the remake of superstreet fighter 4, unless they do another one inbetween now and then :D
Wow...I think the best thing to do would be the add this as downloadable content. I mean really though, they just want the money. There is no need to pay $60 for this when it could just be a $15 add on. They are becoming the guitar hero for fighter games.

This is bollocks, lets award people who didn't buy SFIV by creating a better, cheaper version and sh*t on those who gave them the money to fund it.
Actually, the DLC price for eight characters and new levels would probably put you at $30 already (seeing as how costumes were $15) so as long as SSFIV costs $30 at retail, I'll have no issue with it. I was perfectly happy with 25 characters and had fun with the original. I'll be looking forward to SSFIV.

So, should we pick this one up or wait for Super Street Fighter 4 Turbo?

Waiting patiently for Super Street Fighter 4 Turbo Championship Edition. At the rate of one new SF4 related game per year, this one should be out spring of 2012. Followed later that fall by the first game in the Street Fighter 4 Alpha series.
This is madness. I thought Capcom got over all this BS ages ago, after a bazillion SF2 rehashes finally got on everyone's nerve.
Instead of overcharging for their current batch of DLC, they really could have made the Super, Turbo and Championship editions of SF4 $15 to $20 DLCs and been granted a license to print money without pissing off any of their fans. The way they are doing it now, it just feels like you got the short end of the stick, if you happened to buy the original, which is completely incompatible with Super. Considering that you will likely be able to unlock the ability to turn of the Super Mode at will, that last bit does not make sense.
And for people who have not purchased SF4 yet, you have got to be wonder, that if you buy SSF4, will your purchase be completely invalidated a year later with the release of Turbo. So now you have people who may have purchased SF4 when they heard about a fairly priced "Super" DLC pak adding value to the original disc, deciding to remain on the fence to see if they are going to get screwed a year later when Turbo surfaces.
Ultimately, this is all going to blow up in Capcom's face. This is not 1992 anymore, where you can release updates once a year and people suck it up any longer. This is 2009, and in 2009 the online community is everything with a game like this. Making it so that everyone who purchased the original SF4 cannot play online with anyone who's playing Super without having to go out and buy a whole new disc, is major fail and pretty much guarantees that a lot fewer people who bought SF4 are going to buy Super. And why should people? Why pay $60 for one game, and then turn around and have to completely invalidate your original $60 purchase by spending an additional $40/$50 a year later to purchase what really amounts to $15/$20 worth of DLC just so you can continue to play the game with all your friends online?
Splitting your market is never a smart move, yet because online play is the central focus of any modern fighting game, splitting the SF4 market is exactly what Capcom is doing with the standalone release of Super. This kind of crap may have worked out fine in the early 1990s, but now, Capcom is about to get schooled in New Millennium business models.

Fuck that shit. This is even worse than the "GOTY" editions the industry comes up recently.
How is it worse? It is actually the same thing. New levels, new characters, and new gameplay tweaks (including new ultra combos).

They would have split it anyway with a DLC download. However, I doubt that Capcom (who charged $15 for costumes already on the disk) would have charged $20 for the DLC if it existed. They would have charged $30 which should be how much the SSFIV costs.
LO-FUCKING-L. I can't believe Capcom has the nerve to still do this. Actually, yeah, I can. This is what all those idiots who bought the overpriced costume DLC deserve.

Yeah the costume dlc was almost lower than this I feel
Much lower considering they were already on the disk. For these characters, eight characters need to be modeled, animated, and play tested. This is quite a lot of work (unlike the costume dlc).
One nice thing though, is the fact that the online net code may be completely changed. I'm crossing my fingers for GGPO.

Boy, this wasn't planned :P Glad I didn't buy SF4. I wonder if this will be released as DLC...
you shouldn't feel glad the only people playing now are the elites, lets see you try to have some fun, when all you do is lose, that's the price you pay for waiting :).
I had a lot of fun playing SFIV so far. No need to rush in and buy this though. Probably just wait til it's about $20. Not like there's any shortage of great games out next year anyway. Great deal for people that didn't buy it yet though.

They said" if Madden can do it, we can do it!". Like I've said before, they have every right to charge whatever they want, and as long as people buy it at that price, they'll keep doing it. Vote with your wallet. I personally didn't buy SF4 because it was SO similar to SF2, like they regressed or something instead of expanding the game. My fave SF was SF 3 third strike.
When I first read the news about this new stuff coming for SF4 I was very excited. But then when I read that is was going to be considered as a new game... no way... NO WAY... re-balancing the game and adding 8 characters isn't a new game for me... in that case call it SF5, then I would accept the pill better... but this... this is DLC (I'd even accept to pay it 20 to 25$ considering it's a big DLC)... i'm sorry... but come on... this is just a way to milk the cow... this isn't justified at all I'm sorry...
Of course this isn't the end of the world... but I mean CAPCOM that's not cool really...

But I didn't really get into SFIV much at all so I'm not too upset over this.
no no no
This is how you milk a franchise.
