Happy Feet - Surf's Up
Now I'm sure I'm forgetting something, what CGI rip-off was there to counter the CGI movies Ice Age and Toy Story?
These studios are just ridiculous in how they plagiarize eachother.
Shrek is nothing like Monsters Inc and from the look of it Surf's Up is nothing like Happy Feet. Just because they use penguins don't mean they are ripping off another movie. If thats the case every movie that featured a human is a rip off of the first movie to feature humans in it. Also I would like to add if are saying Surf Up is a rip off of Happy Feet then I would like to point out that Happy Feet must be a rip of Chilly Willy.

That's a little flawed. Using human actors is a little inevitable. Featuring cg penguins not more than a year after another movie featured cg penguins is ripping them off. Studios do this constantly. Look at The Prestige and The Illusionist - two movies released at essentially the same time about magicians. Or the whole Armageddon/Deep Impact thing. Volcano/Dante's Peak.
Frankly, I'm completely sick and tired of penguins. Why there's been more than one movie about one of the most boring animals is beyond me.
While i understand if people will label this a rip off of happy feet, but i saw the trailer a while ago for Surf's up, and it looks really cool. the camera work especially, it almost felt like a live action movie.
Rip-off might be too harsh of a word considering a lot of these movies are in production concurrently. I hate the lack of originality that studios display though.
Ice Age was the Monsters Inc. rip off. Truth is, only Pixar Studios is capable of putting out quality CGI movies that transcend beyond kids, everything else is rubbish.

Maybe rip off is too strong a word for him to use but they are definately ridding the coat tails of each other. A successful CG movie about talking penguins/fish/ants/wild life gets made and all of a sudden there is another movie with a similar motif on the market not long after. Come on. >_>
