Nanco-Bandai informs us that Test Drive Unlimited 2 has gone gold and will hit the stores, as expected, on February 11th on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Till then here are some images.
I wanted to love the first one but I couldn't stand how poorly the vehicles actually handled. I hope it's improved.. this franchise has so much potential.

Nah, it was easy to love it once you accepted it for what it was. Yes, the handling was tricky on the fastest cars, but you countered for that by slowing down for corners and lifting off for crests.
It made up for it with the ability to go pretty much anywhere, pick up models without a court appearance, do 200+mph without a court appearance, Thelma and Louise-style police chases, the showrooms, all well ahead of its time.
If they can nail it all down pat, then this will be one of the best games made for just going out for a drive (which is another thing I really enjoyed about the first one).
I finished the first one, mainly due to me picking it up during a game drought when the 360 was in its infancy. It needs to have improved substantially for it to compete nowadays. I loved the scope of the first one, and funnily enough, I really enjoyed the courier levels where you had to take care of the car and not damage it during transport. But, I hated the ridiculous taxi levels with the piss poor acting and character models/animation, it made me throw up in my m outh a little everytime I pulled over and got the cutscene.
