During their now usual Spring press conference, Microsoft Japan released a few new trailers of upcoming titles, starting with this CG video of Tekken 6.
Of course I also think that it in many ways is representative (or maybe symptomatic) of what is wrong with the Japanese videogame market. They have gotten far better at making sweet CGI trailers, than they have gotten at making sweet games. I was just watching the End of Eternity trailer and thinking, that if tri-Ace could actually make an RPG this gen that was as good as their trailers, they may actually give the likes of Bethesda, Obsidian, Lionhead and BioWare a run for their money.
Nice trailer but it does seem like it is taking them forever to produce what will probably be little more than a graphical update...don't get me wrong I still love the series, this and VF are the two original and still best 3d fighting titles.
I think they' re focusing on the Online experience infrastructure trying to make it as perfect as the arcade version in Japan. Maybe they will make a cross platform PS3/360 online play ? They said they wanted to do that.
Tekken6 is one of the most played arcade game in Japan nowadays.
Hope they won't delay the console version....
Tekken 5 dark resurrection is by far the best in the series.
Tekken 3 was awesome too but the 4 sucked and 5 rebalanced the thing.
The only thing that kinda suck in 6 is the " rage " system. Once in a juggle combo, can't do anything.
DOA is too accessible. the real challenge in driving the balance between combo deliverance and blocking the attacks while working out the strategy has always been the sweet spot of the tekken series. and as far as I've learned, tekken6 is pretty popular and accepted among the fans through arcades and it proves its robustness. I do love to have extra features in the console version but anyways, I will be getting this one on launch.

How is rage related to jugling? Maybe you are actually talking about how they added bounce to a bunch of moves ? That would make sense :P

Yeah Tekken 4 is clearly the black sheep of the series. They totally made up for that with Tekken 5 and DR though.
the only thing that is going to suck is the 360 controller, i mean its great for FPS games and all but for fighting game it just sucks, the playstation controller is great for fighting games though
hopefully a tekken arcade stick will be released for 360 owners
