Official page of forthcoming Tenchu Xbox360 game opened today, and well... here are some of the better screenshots from the site. Game's graphics surely don't impress, maybe the gameplay will. As with most Tenchu games this one is being developed by K2 and published by From Software. Release date for Japan is October 5th.

Doesn't look brilliant graphically, was expecting more from this.

Lighting engine is a bit rubbish if you ask me.

Maybe From Software can send their Chromehounds team to help with the lighting engine. Chromehounds has magnificent lighting.

i liked tenchu on xbox....but you sort of get the feeling that this is what the graphics should have looked like last generation

I'm glad you did like it, I hated it, the controls were stupid....saying that though, I did only play the demo, maybe there was a change in the full game?

I know what you mean "monkey1988". Im a huge Tenchu fan even back in the PS1 days but the 360 version dont look much better than the xbox or even PS2 versions,but the thought of custom characters and xbox live i'm definatly gunna buy regardless of the reviews

LOL Ya bring chromehounds team in for the HDR lighting but DONT LET THEM TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE... or else it'll take 15 minutes to walk around a room

as for graphics... ya its kinda not all their... but hey, this is from software... what cha expect it looks like their stuck in lastgen graphics again

Actually the graphics when viewed in the trailer are pretty good, to me it looks like they're going for a cel-shaded/comic type look which doesn't come off well in screenshots but looks much better in action. Don't believe me, look at the blood when the enemies are being stabbed, it moves and looks very cartoony which is probably the direction they're aiming for.

You've never heard of Tenchu? They've all had crappy graphics but great gameplay! It's not really hack-n-slash ... it's more like a simplified Splinter Cell with Swords :) You CAN go hack n slash but it's much much more effective to go stealthy

Haha, yeah that about boils it down. The developers never really seemed to ever get the hang of any hardware they've worked on, but most of the Tenchu games are a blast to play. I'm hoping this one follows the excellent PSX and early PS2 Tenchu games rather than the more recent stinkers.

Oh and at least there's no draw distance in this Tenchu, all the other ones have a clipping plane of about 5 feet.

I'm so tired of seeing games with such horrible graphics from the Xbox/PS2 era. Even the raise in RAM alone would be enough to come up with some incredible graphics when compared to last gen, but still, developers come up with this crap.

Maybe you should compare it to a game from the same series in the last gen? I'm not saying there is any excuse but it seems pretty obvious that they don't have the budget or talent to take advantage of the hardware.

God damn this looks amazing. It looks like instead of Rikimaru/Ayame/Comedy Tesshu or Tatsumaru Option, you actually create your own ninja to play through the game with. Hopefully this also improves on the Live play from Return from Darkness, and brings back the map editor from Tenchu 2/PSP.

Also, to the poster above me, this doesn't want to be Splinter Cell, it paved the way for Splinter Cell.

blah blah blah... we went through this argument many times with bullet witch. maybe japanese companies should just not release early screenshots of their games so they don't build negative hype. I'm sure the graphics will look much better in the final build, these are just giving an idea of their direction.

btw, i'm really excited about tenchu... how can you not like ninjas... now if only they made a tenchu vs. pirates of the caribbean game that would be awesome!
