Indie blockbuster Terraria coming to consoles
Milton Keynes, UK — International publisher of video games, 505 Games, has today announced it will be bringing the independent block-building blockbuster Terraria to Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®Network.
Originally released in 2011 on PC by creator-developer Andrew Spinks’ Re-logic studio; Terraria is a side-scrolling, action-adventure sandbox game, with an emphasis on crafting and exploration set in vast and vibrant worlds. It has received universal acclaim from media and fans alike — 1.6 million “Terrarians” have struck out on their own adventures since release.
With a vast array of materials and items to collect, Terraria is far more than a mere block building game, gamers experience is limited only by their own imaginations; the world really is yours to shape and explore.
“The block-building genre has taken the world by storm and Terraria has garnered a massive following through its increased focus on adventure and discovery.” said Tim Woodley, Head of Global Brand for 505 Games. “We’re looking forward to bringing an already hugely successful experience to a brand new console audience and we can’t wait for the existing Terraria fan base to experience all-new content”.
Andrew Spinks, creator of Terraria added "I can’t say how excited I am to finally have Terraria come to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3! To see it come so far is a complete shock, especially after such humble beginnings. It’s always been my dream to have as many people as possible know and enjoy Terraria as much as I have, and this is another big step in that direction! It’s been awesome working with 505 Games, and I can’t wait for everyone to see the additional features that they’ve been able to bring to this new edition of the game."
Developed by Engine Software, Terraria will be available on Xbox LIVE Arcade and Playstation Network early 2013. Follow us on facebook.com/terrariaofficial and twitter.com/terraria_logic or log on to www.terraria.org
@docLEXfisti: i had a feeling the second would be better, just because it didn,t have to deal with the fluff of building up to getting a ship and exploring strange new worlds. (3 Hours ago)
@Moonwalker: did you ride a donkey? (4 Hours ago)
Man, "The Orville" is much better than expected... EP1 was good, but EP2 was great - nice! (5 Hours ago)
@Moonwalker: i've never been to Spain. Would like to go there some day. I've flown a bit though. Riding civil and military planes. Piloted Cessna 172. sat in a F-16D this summer. :) (6 Hours ago)
But Malaga was great. Loved the weather, the hills and mountains. We went to the sea, a zoo, cable car up a mountain and last but not least visited their red light district too, haha. (10 Hours ago)
And it was quite a sight to eventually be above the clouds or see nothing but clouds or sky and no land below you, lovely. (10 Hours ago)
