TGS06: Images of Sonic the Hedgehog

TGS06: Images of Sonic the Hedgehog

Sega released these three images of Sonic The Hedgehog, this time in 1080p resolution. That (probably) means that they're from the Playstation 3 version, but who knows during these crazy announcement-days?

What good will 1080p be if I'm going to get jaggies all over the place. Isn't the 360 capable of 4xAA. The models stick out like a sore thumb while the background and textures look smeared. And please don't reply by saying that with Sonic's breakneck speed, no will have time to admire the backgrounds. That's bullsh!t.

This sonic game is amazing, I played the PS3 ver today and it looked stunning in person. I cant express how the screen caps dont do the game justice. I went from not buying the game at all, to putting it near the top of my list.

I'm sure it will be fun if it flows like the Dreamcast versions.

Well.. the xbox360 gets an update so that it'll support 1080p. So it COULD be.

No way of telling.

I still think 360 will upscale 720p to 1080p, won't be true 1080p. (mark my words)

Besides who needs it.

This looks like the PS2 version. The way everything is rendered just screams PS2.

Other than the size of the pictures.

They announced that the update will allow native 1080p, so its entirely possible for it to be true 1080p without upscaling. I wonder if they will put a video up in the marketplace because people should see the game in motion.

Seeing as they bothered to announce which games were 1080p I'm sure it's more than mere upscaling with those. Lost planet does it so I can't imagine this'd have any problems doing it.

At least a decent framerate at 1080p should mean a perfect framerate at 720p. :)

Or so you would think.

Does LP seriously render at 1080p ?

Your guess is as good as mine, but I imagine it to be poinless to say "THESE games upscale to 1080p!" when every game does.

Or for that matter, lie about a select few on TGS and exclude stuff like Lost Odyssey and Forza 2.

The higher the resolution the less jaggies the game has when in motion... Have you guys played any PC game? For example if you play Counter Strike Source at 800x600 its awful but if you raise the resolution its looks a lot better with no jaggies at all :)

This game needs more work!

I'll just slap these in here too:

Right click and save like you normally do.

http://sega.jp/asx/TGS2006/sonic_pr.asx
This needs to stream, so right click and download and open in WMP.

By the Resolution of the pic.

These pics, are 1080 but you can't tell if they're P or i, but they sure suck.

With pcs being able to go to that reso for years. I see no reason why the 360 shouldn't be capable of actually going to a straight up 1920x1080 reso. I don't think it will just be an upscale. I think it will be a real 1080p. Its a dumb reso that I hope not games are at, but I'm sure it can go to the reso natively.

Come the update we'll be able to make our dashboard 1080p if we want I'm sure.
