That charecter is from the character creation mode, you create your own character and have him as one of your party memebr, also you can play with that character as your avater in online mode.
I don´t like the main character... but in general, art direction is nice. Interesting game for sure, Im glad to see a great j-rpg coming to PS3 (I don´t have a PS3)
I happen to think it looks pretty good. I like the pic that looks like a water cooler moment in the woods. It appears that some of the textures look smeared or little textures at all, but if the graphics are clean and the gameplay and story are epic, then I'm sure it will be a winner. It's too bad that I don't own a PS3, but it's good that both consoles are getting great games to make it your worth for buying one or the other.
This is easily my most anticiapted PS3 game next to God of War 3.
If it wasn't for these two games (along with the fact PS3 can play Blu-Ray's), I would have sold my PS3 along time ago.
None the less, here's hoping we saw more exclusive games of this calibur in the near future.

Surely FFXIII is more anticipated than this? Sure its coming to Xbox360 but if it wasn't, id sure as hell as buy a PS3 for it.. but not this sadly.
I can't help but feel most of the hype for this game is coming from desperation. A few of the features seem pretty neat, but I'm not quite seeing why some people are being completely blown away, and I don't see the game coming out anytime soon.
The graphics certainly aren't impressive (not that it's an issue for me).

unless they push it back they've already confirmed it to be coming out in december.
maybe some of its desperation, but are you going to be one of those ppl that claim MGS4 (or any PS3 game) was only good because of desperation? it looks as genuinely good as any other jrpg thats been put out there to date. and its coming from a wellknown dev thats made a bit of a name for themselves in recent years.
its as much of a reason for hype as all of mistwalker's games getting sold simply because MS's ads said "made by Sakaguchi! made by Sakaguchi!!"
certainly from a jrpg perspective, it has a lot of features which are pretty interesting and it'll be interesting to see how they work it while staying in the realm of jrpgs.

Maybe Sony pushed them too hard to have it for holiday in japan, i can't believe they pulled so terrible visuals on PS3
As for the gameplay, frankly Level5 has lost it altogether, i have never seen a worst playing JRPG, that slow dull thing belongs to a MMO, and i avoid MMO because of the generic boring worlds and combat

The only good thing is the story and FMV, i may buy it just for those, depends on the other offerings at that point
Generally having played Infinite Undiscovery, it is vastly better in visuals and the combat feels far more exiting, it is behind only in story/FMV
if anything i'd say this looked a damn sight better then IU gameplay wise. IU was a dismal effort when it came to actual design decisions. i honeastly dont see how any JRPG this generation could "top" IU in terms of sheer crapness. it may have looked 'OK', but that was pretty much the extent of praise i am willing to give it, story, cutscenes, design, art style, everything about IU was just bad.
I think most people would agree that the battle system in IU was actually NOT crap...and personally i would much prefer it to the very slow, dull and boring combat system in this game, albeit i give no two S*ts about either game...
i am absolutely fed up and disgusted with the U3 engine, all these games look alike, i.e sould caliber 4, IU, WKC etc etc etc. COME ON IDTECH5, or something else.
