I think that's exactly what they're trying to move away from... I think in one of the fighter chronicles one of the producers was like "it's still sexy...but our fighting system is solid too."

They won't ever disassociate themselves with the DOA = boobs mentality but that doesn't mean they aren't focusing on better, more important aspects of the game(the fighting engine).

If that's what you want, I believe there are films about nothing but that subject, and they use real women too instead of polygons.

Misogyny has no place in the modern world, and it's continued existence is depressing.

Easy on the misandry there

This is the first DOA game ever that I'm not very excited about. It looks too gimmicky and the gameplay looks the same as it has since DOA2. How sad.

Most fighters look the same for several generations. They don't play the same.

As for gimmicky, I assume you're referring to all the interaction with levels that you can turn off if you want?

Looks pretty shit tbh, but then i havn't liked this series since DOA2.

So you can turn off the environment interactions and you are left with what, DOA 2.5.3? It looks pretty but that's about it. And the VF character cameos do nothing for me.

Name a fighting sequel you couldn't say that about

Most of them. I can't think of a single fighter that changes as little as DOA.

I've heard the same .5 statements said about every fighting franchise

You can find videos that detail the changes to this game if you like.

That's definitely true. And this has more new content than any DOA yet, really. I do think the series has changed less than a lot of other fighters though. It has preferred cosmetic upgrades over new gameplay for a while.

I'm getting it. And it's totally because of how cool and flashy it is. :P

I think you also have to look at it in a way of how long it's been since DOA4 came out.
To me they made each DOA to simply land on a new console each time, which would probably explain why so much of it just seemed cosmetic. More time was spent just producing something different on new hardware.
This will be the first real time they've had two games from this franchise land in one console generation. This probably explains why they're more focused on game play than anything else this time.

People say they prefer something like DOA2, and that seems pretty standard as well. No one seems to like the new SF games in comparison to the much older Third Strike and so on.
I also have friends who mod their Smash Brothers all the time to go back to a more competitive style of game play (Project M).
Seems to be a problem nowadays of trying to make money and appeal to casuals more
