You gotta love the concept of katana slicing through 15th century plate armor :)

In fact, there are a lot of discussions and books about it and of course,...katana wouldn´t slice through the armor, but still it is believed it would hurt like hell, throw You off balance etc...that´s why I like the neck stab in the end of the video. There are many unprotected parts on knights armor in this game. They would feel the impact of the katana for sure. The katana blade damage from the impacts is another thing. On the other hand...Samurai´s armor was far superior to simple plated armor of the knights. It used better "technology" and much better metals. But I think it´s obvious, this game is not meant to be a medieval simulator. :-)

Vikings never fought samurais.

Also...VIDEO GAMES, not "based on tru historical events"-the video game.

It's around 10:37. And this is a bastard sword I mind you. It's very probably a sharper and more thinner (better armor penetration) blade, than any katana I saw in person. Katana is a very thick sword by any standards, hence it stands no chance against a solid steel plate, mail underneath it and then a gambeson which also deflates the pressure of a strike, on your body.

Please, don't make it even more embarrassing for yourself. Wooden armor and plates made of really bad quality iron, that was oh so common in Japan, is probably worse than even ancient linothorax of Greeks, let alone plate armor of 15th century. Really, it's not worth even discussing at this point.

Video game.
Sure. No question about it. Anything goes and I'm quite ok with it :)

You are right...I fucked that sentence up about the armor. It was meant to be like knights armor better, samurai armor worse. About the video...it just shows, it would hurt like hell...so I don´t get Your point. :-)

I dont care how "authentic" it is like you guys. As long as the warriors have awesome proper animations and gear, combat on point which seems to be...its awesome as hell.
I just hope they release more like warriors like spartans, mongols...etc. more awesome famous warriors from various countries.

I am relieved that it was a simple mistake. ;o

However, if you look inside the helmet on 10:41 you would be able to spot a face of a man, that is generally not very bothered by anything to the point of apathy. Cheers.

Oh man, I would soooooo play as a Hoplite! Or a roman legionaire of around 2nd century AD.

And I really hope this game would spawn a singleplayer based sequel with Mount and Blade'ish game mechanics.

So single player isn't just an offline version of the online mode with bots? It has levels, bosses, objectives and a storyline?

Nobody knows. But i wouldnt be surprised it would be play as ??? faction, kill all enemies, take over the base...etc. Dont expect a full on campaign, atleast im not. But as long as i can play around with whatever faction without going online i am good lol.

Though i do hope there are levels, bosses, objectives and upgrades though and not just online going offline with story attached to it.

There is ALOT of potential, its just a shame they havent spoken anything about it yet or giving hints.

its very easy to tell which parts of the trailer are showing in-game graphics, the parts where hes alone in that forest area. all the scenes of him in the battle are prerendered.

Spain (which is part of Europe) Established trade with the east since the days of Marco Polo in mid to late 12th century. It's true though that the rest of Europe never really dealt with the east. The Greeks wanted to concur many parts of Asia with "Alexander the great" but they were exhausted in supplies and infantry, and so they retreated back.

As for the game For Honor, it's mostly fictional but it looks great i'll give it that. the animations are very smooth. the lighting is also great too. I hope this title doesn't get put under the knife of Ubisoft. they've been ruining their reputation this gen.

Right. Though I cannot tell from the video, it looks like a mesh of medieval versus a Samurai. Which there is nothing wrong with, I'm just trying to figure what the hell is going on. (Also, the Edo period started about 200 years after the middle ages, so herein lies the confusion)

The hell you talking about, it was a question... Trying to figure out what is going on in this game.

I thinks I saw a trailer like this before called watch dogs, then saw it downgraded to console specs..

If Capcom wasn't so poorly ran, we would have the Onimusha next gen game that millions have been waiting for instead of making Street Fighter XXVVII and Resident Evil 99. Dino Crisis? Ever heard of that game Capcom?
