$40 for an expansion pack especially on a retail disc that will split the community. /facepalm

Angry Joe was right to be mad. I don't even care for this franchise, but this is typical Capcom suckage.

I will buy this next year, when it is 20 bucks (just like it would cost if it was DLC)

Capcom started to screw up the franchise by removing the old short kick, mid or fierce kick from Marvel Capcom 1 when they did 2 and completely crewing up kicks and adding that stupid "launcher" button when it was not really that hard to launch someone even in the last two sequels. basically hand holding the gamer focus groups whatever they are or forum posters that complained the games were hard or something.
Honestly this looks like a nice roster for a fighting game and I prefer that they made a stand alone disc that completely fixes the kicks by actually adding them two kick buttons to complement the old capcom fighter gameplay.
If of course as I am expecting its just going to be the same game with more characters then I will just watch my friends buy it and play it and just say that the days of going to the arcade and finding worthy opponents and punishing cheaters/spammers in front of their girl/boy friends are trully over.

This could easily be made as a DLC instead of re-releasing it.

Anyways, the only character I am excited about is Vergil, badass character.

Sure, but in that case it would cost waaaay more. 12 characters x $5 = $60 + stages and modes, yeah I'd say it would've cost about $80-$90 if it was DLC.

Its not DLC bec Capcom is a Japanese company and still thinks discs are the way to go, Capcom producer says so. This is true.

tbh, i think disc's are the way to go, i'd rather buy (or rent) the "complete" edition of a game for less a year down the line, then have to buy 10 peices of DLC ON TOP of the amount i bought the game for in the first place. i like that developers do it, gearbox, bethesda etc. i will simply wait to buy it, that's all. why would anyone buy the vanilla skyrim or vanilla borderlands 2 when they KNOW there WILL be a complete edition for half the price later on?

All I know is the only character I think is worth getting is Vergil, but for me its not worth dishing out extra cash for other stuff I find useless.

it wont be full price will it? it'll probably be half the price the first shipped at... like super street fighter 4 was. With capcom you'd be stupid to buy first editions of beat'em ups and not expect there to be a second and third edition "later" down the line, we all know the script...yet, i'd put money on there being simular posts of outrage once a "refined" ediotion of sfvt is released.

Depends on the game. For fighting games, it'll usually just be more characters which can just be bought single instead of a bundle like rock band where characters you dont want get packed in. I like Mortal Kombat's way more, just buy the one character you want.

Know what ? I didnt buy it in the first place because I KNEW Capcom would re-release it a few months later. I've been waiting impatiently for that day. November can't come soon enough. Sure hope they won't come up with something like Ultimate MVC3 Arcade/Turbo/Whatever-Edition after that. This game is so much better than SF4 ! Well... at least in my book.

They should really stop making these cinematic trailers and give the game some nice cutscenes instead.

They ARE amazing, but why not make cutscenes like those in the actual game? Gamers would rather see this kind of production value in the game rather than in the trailers, won't they?

That does not make sense, both those games are action adventure meaning alot of walking around doing fetch quests and collecting crap, when DLC is predictably made it adds more crap to collect and more areas to visit and walk around doing fetch quests or mass murder...

Not to defend Marvel Capcom III Ultimate but its a fighter game so you just join a match and done you either stay or get knocked off, then try to get back in and sometimes have an epic battle that you might talk about ten years from now if we are still here.

The time spent is very different.

Time spent is different, gameplay is different, the way in which both capcom and bethesda handle games is the same. Release the game, release DLC. I'd rather wait for the complete edition for 20 quid after a year or so, then buy the vanilla version and then an extra 30 quids worth of content. Why pay more for less when i can pay less for everything?

in terms of a fighting gamebecause it sucks to join the community a full year after release. Why don't you wait 6 months for Uncharted 3 to drop in price? It'll be the same game 6 months later, just half price. Why pay more?

For the same reason you just used for fighting games. Skyrim and borderlands tho....single player. DLC is large chunks of content, often story driven, i dont want to be forced into paying double the price to get a complete game, not when i can wait, buy it cheaper, and get everything. MP maps (main things added to games like uncharted) i dont care about since i dont buy MP maps, but characters in a fighters (the main area of content in the genre), and story driven single player DLC...well, i want that, just not for 30 quid more. Not when i can get everything for 20 or less. Hell, i bought fallout 3 for 13 quid and got everything. I bought oblivion GOTY edition for a tenner, and got everything. I'm renting mass effect 2, and i have 'almost' everything. I'll wait for the full edition of skyrim and borderlands 2, and i'll pay less, and get everything. We all know those versions are coming, so why buy them day one?

Here's the deal, with a game like Skyrim you'll get plenty of content for your 60 bucks without the DLC and so long as the game is self contained straight out of the box there's no reason for feeling cheated without the DLC. Why buy them day one? Again because you want to play them as soon as possible and because you want to show support for the developer. I don't know about you but i'd actually like Bethesda to keep making TES games and so i will buy it as soon as possible.

i just dont see the point KNOWING there will be more added and then released for less, hell, we've waited what? 4-5 years, what's an extra year really?. just cancelled my batman pre-order since there is just far too many DLC skins pre-order incentives and challenge rooms. i'll wait till they're all on the disc or they're free to download. becasue we all know they will be. if we lived in a bubble, unaware they would release a complete edition, then sure, i can see people buying the vanilla version. but that isnt the case. both bethesda and gearbox have proven they release "GOTY" editions a year later to get more sales. i'll stick to that version. and if i'm THAT eager to experience what is on offer...i'll rent it day one. no way am i spending 70+ quid on a game + DLC tho. just not gonna happen. it's precisely why i'm waiting on fallout new vegas...what is it now? 4th peice of DLC? gotta be close to the last, if not the last. which means "complete" edition should be just around the corner. i'll be picking that up for 20 quid, tops and will get everything for that price. wonder how much day 1 buyers paid?

Dude ok whatever but with Skyrim (sequel to Oblivion) when you get DLC you get maps and items, you don't really get a re-balancing of the leveling/stat up system or even the physics. on a Fighting game its a completely different story as a major flaw could have been found in the last one, fixed and a new character or even a new/remixed combo/super system could be revamped. Along with new endings, winning pose fixes, taunts, etc.

The other problem with waiting is its going to take more than nine months for all the Skyrim DLC to come out unless they preplanned it for short but the gamers take much longer to complete levels/quests so in that nine months you will just hear stories from people's adventures doing this or that... I mean yeah an all in one DLC GOTY disc is nice too but people just end up trading or moving on to something new.
