The Art of WRC 3

The Art of WRC 3

WRC 3 is once again in the spotlight, with this time a developer diary focused on the art of the game. In this video, you will find out more about the tracks, the lighting effects and the deformation system among other things. Our Italian members will also certainly recognize the French accent of Sébastien Pellicano, game director. Since we won't be present at this year's Gamescom, let's hope we can get our hands on the game early enough to be able to propose a full review when the game is released.

But the game itself looks like crap.

The previous game wasn't even 720p on console and looked horrid.

DIRT2-3 destroys it.

You know, back in the days, the first Colin McRae Rally did not look really good compared to V-Rally 2 but it did not prevent it from becoming legendary.

Richard Burns Rally was clearly not the best-looking game either, still, hardcore rally fans keep playing the game on PC.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying WRC 3 will surely be the best rally game out there. But until I can try it for myself, and see if the driving sensations are indeed rally-like, I will not stop at the graphics or resolution. WRC 3 has a lot to prove, but it's the only true rally game there is now. Dirt may be fun and gorgeous, but it does not feel like rally anymore.

Of course....RB Rally is and will be for a long time best rally game ever. For me. But I this will be good rally game, I will get it. It doesnt have to be the best, but maybe we will be surprised.

It's about looking good enough and playing great, isn't it? Looking great is only a plus, not necessity.
Besides people nowadays seem to use the word "terrible" (or something equivalent) rather too easily. I mean, is it THAT bad? Seriously?

Milestone is a terrible developer... even if you get the moneyhats and licensed game $ coming in for your mediocre efforts that you can keep making so small gradual better sequels, the base problem will always be theere the same: them. they are a bad developer.

Codemasters on other hand, aren't bad by any means, they just are misguided on what "rally" fans actually care and want, and the team must be so much different compared to th 90s colin team, their idea of a rally game isn't a pure great handling like it was back then... they caved it to what is popular and flashy.
