If you are into virtual road trips, you're not without knowing that a new PC beta for The Crew started a few days ago. Ubisoft gave away a good number of codes but if you haven't been able to get one or if you're waiting for the console beta in September, here are four videos we captured during an hour long free ride session with two unknown gentlemen drivers. Obviously, the game is not as visually and technically impressive as we'd hope, but aside from the technical flaws of this beta, the size of the map and its variety offer some great moments across this condensed version of the US. The world Ivory Tower created is very lively, with pedestrians, a lot of traffic in urban areas and wild animals, and this might be where the game will stand out when compared to other games of the genre. Most importantly, driving is fun, especially when you have a bunch of friends around, and it's nothing like the NFS series.
A few more things
• Videos were captured in hardcore mode with a 360 controller.
• The red Camaro is the full stock version of the car.
• We uncapped the beta's frame rate to enjoy some 60 fps smoothness to capture the videos but our computer sometimes had a hard time maintaining a perfectly steady frame rate because of Mirilis.
• Sound is 5.1 in the videos and always will be for all our PC captures from now on (should you choose to download our footage that is).
I just saw the movie 127 hours. Really enjoyed it. James Franco was rather damn good in it too. (12 minutes ago)
the machines are probably gonna be sold out for a while, no matter the price, like with most console launches here. If Zelda wasn't also coming to the Wii U it would have been crisis. can play on wiiu (14 minutes ago)
@droezelke: I love their games, just not always super happy about some of the other parts :) (36 minutes ago)
For a "dead on arrival" platform it sure is hard to get one at launch. (2 Hours ago)
Nah the accessories are expensive. I think hating on things gets you labeled a hater. (2 Hours ago)
@Melmoth: But it's Nintendo... You can't say anything negative about Nintendo or you're considered a hater... (4 Hours ago)
@Melmoth: i've lostened to a couple podcasts where total spend before games have been 500+ dollars due to the high cost of accessories. (6 Hours ago)
