The effect of time in Mafia 2

2K Games released these two images of Mafia 2 showing how time - and bullets ? - can affect one of the many environments of the game. The Deli seems like a nice restaurant in the first shot, which can't be said on the second screen, a little later in the story.

I'm wondering what ya'll mean by "time." The pictures don't show a change in time, really, just damage. These aren't the effects of *time*, necessarily, but the effects of, as Driftwood said, damage.

I think they're extremely impressive in setting a mood. Feels like a painting you'd see in someone's house, because of the lighting.
