The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited has arrived on PC and Mac today. Existing accounts should have been updated. It contains besides the original game all six content updates and of course the removal of subscription fees. The console versions will be out in June.

And yet consoles needs "subscribtion fee", also known as XBL and PS+ *sigh*
If they remove those, then yes, its a one-time-purchase f2p.

But it is not free to play. One-time purchase negates free to play. Take it up with Sony and M$ if you do not like paying for online gaming.

I bought this at launch...game is beautiful. Great atmosphere and fun gameplay. Pity class balance is abysmal and story is thin. Granted I've not played in months, but, it just seems sick and wrong that to attain effective dps (for nightblade, dragon knight and sorcerer): you're wearing all cloth gear, putting everything into magicka and using a resto staff. Otherwise, gameplay is solid, dungeons and raids are challenging and fun.

So it's essentially the Guild Wars model now. You still have to buy the game. Does the game have a cash shop yet? If not now then soon.

... and also what has essentially killed many genres and game series.

I'm surprised they don't go the old Guild Wars model and just release a $60 game/expansion every 6 months and claim no monthly fee required.
