The first 10 minutes: Amped 3

The first 10 minutes: Amped 3

The first two Amped games were among my favorite games on the first Xbox. So I was really anticipating this game's release at first, then dreading it when I learned that the gameplay had been simplified a lot. Now that I've spent quite a few hours playing this game I can say that Amped 3 is clearly not as good as the first two games, but it's also not as bad as what I thought it would be. A mixed bag, with some huge mountains (but much slowdowns), great humor (at least if you are into that kind of completely stupid stuff) and a not so deep gameplay.
Update : Second part online.

Hmm... this game was supposed to be my next buy, there's nothing better than a good snowboarding game during christmas. SSX3 last year rocked my world. I'm not that impressed with this video though, I like the more "free" feeling of SSX3.

I would buy SSX On Tour, but I've heard it doesn't play well on Xbox 360. Decisions, decisions...

well it's got a unique style I’ll give it that. what that style is, is anyone's guess. looks ok but nothing special.
and i love the choice of fat man with ginger afro who's going to die of hyperthermia :)

This game was kind of a letdown. The humor is definitely funny at times, but the gameplay just doesn't feel "right." When is SSX coming to the 360?

Seriously, manager, if you like free, this is your game. If anything, it feels like a totally open, modern Ski or Die. You can ride sleds (fun!) and throw snowballs and everything.

When all is said and done and it comes down to the gameplay though, this feels less like Amped than I ever expected. It's not that it's bad, really, it plays pretty well within its own framework (which more restricted than before, but more instantly rewarding aswell, since tricks certainly look "cooler" here than in previous Amped games) and the story and presentation is insane. You'll really either appreciate it or possibly hate it, but you can't deny that it does it with a lot more conviction than the sort of lame (from a presentation standpoint) SSX On Tour.

If you have't played and enjoyed Amped before, you're more likely (and on a whole, pretty likely) to like this one. It's in comparison that the gameplay just doesn't quite match the dynamic feel of Amped 2. Online modes aren't really sorely missed (surprisingly so) and its main strengths are the story, scale and the amount of stuff you can do.

Rent it for a weekend, is my advice. Then decide if it's a keeper.

From the looks of this video, I would assume this is an awsome game. I've never really liked snowboarding games, but I love the humor they incorporated into this game. All the cut scenes rock!

Looks like they did this just to compete more with SSX, the originals were a blast

the only game i really enjoyed was the first ssx on the ps2 ,(that last ssx was really crap) though really i found the amped 1 to be quite difficult to control on the xbox and allthough the second game was more of the same it did feel alot better, but nothing comes close to the ssx i think they should look at what made that game so great the dimly lit tracks with blue lights , and the excellent techno tracks .and try to emulate that , i just can not see many people who snow board liking this unless you have a age of 8.

I gotta agree with some of you; this game looks fun.
