The first 10 minutes: Boom Boom Rocket

The first 10 minutes: Boom Boom Rocket

Boom Boom Rocket is often compared to Fantavision, a PS2 launch title, but except for the actual firewors these two titles don't have much in common. Boom Boom Rocket is much closer a Konami Rhythm-game than anything else, even if it has some elements that help differentiate it too. I'll let you watch this first video of my favorite song, followed tonight by another one, and you'll get even more footage in the next Gamersyde Diaries, hopefully released soon!
It's the first time we've been allowed to released some footage before a XBLA title was released, so many thanks to Bizarre and EA for this!
Update: As promised, here is the second video. More in GSD5!

This looks like a must buy for me. I like how these kind of games give you ratings at end of level.

ALthough the game looks awesome, I don't know about the music. One thing that makes the DDR style games is the music is usually pretty damn good. If they had of included some way to play a song from your PC/harddrive on the 360 and analyzed the song for places to put fireworks, it coulda been spectacular...

Thanks for the videos Blim. Looks interesting !

I agree the music sounded rubbish.

Can see EA milking this with additional music tracks on XBL.

Ah, another one of those "carpal tunnel" games that only has D-pad buttons to press. This looks extremely similar to DJMax for the PSP, except it has fireworks. That 2nd song is awesome. BlimBlim, you ROCK at this game, pretty high in the leaderboards! ;)

I love that second song!

This is supposed to be available this week?!

I'm not sure if that complements Guitar Hero, or competes with it.

Is it confirmed that you can add your songs and make rockets in necessary time?

How do you actually play that game? Dpad for left and down and buttons for up and right or which one is the best setup?

No

You can use the dpad or the buttons, as you prefer.

Do you use both?

Seems like it'd be easier to double task for some of those button presses.

Of course. It is originally Beethoven's Moonlight sonata (the first part).

argh, I knew it....but music in school was always boring for me (altough I should know it as a german xD ).

About the game

What's up?
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @Melmoth: that is one impressive engine. Didn't it also run until dawn, and soon a massive open world game. (12 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts The only bad thing is that now I'm dying to play Crash Bandicoot. I didn't notice the sounds the first time, but from the second onwards they hit me so hard with nostalgia. Those are great games. (1 Hour ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts Just watched PSX 2016 for the 4th time, reactions from the Easy Allies and Kinda Funny guys. It was such an unbelievably amazing show that just gets better after each rewatching. Congrats to Sony! (1 Hour ago)

Melmoth @aphex187: [url] Q6 here. But the original article was taken down, so guess it doesn't count anymore :). Also puzzled why Kojima would let Sony own the IP after (1 Hour ago)
