As promised, here is the second part from the video I've done of [eM] -eNCHANT arM-, this time with my first impressions of the game.
A third video may appear in a few days, if the first boss fight is interesting. Update: Low-res version of the video online.
First of all graphically this is definitely not a killer game. It has some nice textures and effects, but it really looks like it's a quick upgrade of a Xbox game to Xbox 360. Nothing screams next gen so far except the nice 720p resolution with antialiasing. It certainly looks better than any jRPG so far (I'm not commenting on artistical stuff here), but that's it.
Gameplay wise this is very old school. Run around, do you objectives, destroy a few boxes to get some free stuff, and fight. Sometimes the camera is free, sometimes in smaller rooms it's fixed and changes only to help see some stuff.
The battle system is your typical grid based system. Move your character, then choose what to do, be it a support power or kick the enemies ass. Of course each move has a certain distance it can be used at, so you have to be placed accordingly on the grid. Well, you know the drill.
I can't comment on the story since I do not understand japanese, but so far from the tone of the dialogs (most are dubbed, but the less important stuff is only subbed) the scenario is still in the "easygoing" phase.
eM looks like a very typical jRPG, with some good but not incredible production values.

i just think it's an awful idea to base a movie on a game that had a terrible story, a terrible script and characters devoid of personality...including the protagonist. why would someone do that. lol (5 minutes ago)
but at least she isn't doing that super exaggerated breathy "acting" luddington does in the games (8 minutes ago)
the woman just looks so wooden as well. which is probably why she did well playing a robot in ex machina lol. (10 minutes ago)
@Melmoth: it's the level of the CGi that i find pretty funny. it's like one of those giant creature movies you'd see at 3am on syfy lol (12 minutes ago)
the trailer gave the impression that every big action sequence will culminate in her doing an inhumanly long jump (17 minutes ago)
@alimokrane: yeah but you liked the POS story and characters in the reboot, so it's not really surprising that you like it. lol (18 minutes ago)
