Based on what I've played so far (only had it a day), it's most probably my game of the year.

It's like an interactive movie most of the time. So awesome. Horde is too addictive for its own good as well.

I reserved the game and will be picking it up in about an hour. It's supposed to be a Christmas gift and I don't know how long I can hold our without opening and playing it for myself. It's for my son, so buying two copies is out of the question. Here's my Holiday list; Mirrors Edge, Gears of War2, Bango Kazooie, Fable2 (already own), Far Cry2, Prince of Persia, The Last Remnant (big maybe), Left 4 Dead,Tales of Vesperia, and a few more that I may not have mentioned. My library for the 360 so far is the largest that I've had for any game console ever. This holiday it will be pushing 40 titles. All of them were rated 8 and above. I never purchase garbage.

Its a shame Blim can only post sections from the beginning of the game (SO AS NOT TO SPOIL IT FOR EVERYONE), because most sections are draw dropping and the action is INSANE!, i am coming to the end of Act4 and if it finished here it would already have my vote for GOTY :)

This game is so action packed!. I feel like I've experienced more action in the first 10 minutes of play time than, i did during any 10 minute period of the first game. Unbelievable! and i haven't even touched the multiplayer yet! GOTY

There's no way this is a full on sequel. You guys sure its not just an expansion? It looks EXACTLY the same as Gears1, and that's a bad thing for me. Same old tedious and repetitive gunplay. I thought they updated the graphics?

GOTY. Graphics have improved. The first level don´t do justice cause is not far from Gears 1, but after the first hospital level... Game begin to show his true power. And the last levels are simply awesome, a kick in the face of Gears 1 in quality. Gears 2 is EPIC

Is the game as good as the first one, or is it an improvement on the first one? I'm talking about the singleplayer, not the multiplayer.
The first one, became boring towards the end (too much of the same) and a little too dificult on casual. Is the difficulty better balanced for casual gamers?
Have they implemented some kind of physics as shown in the Unreal engine demo, like destructable cover?
I know the review scores are high, but I'm still not sure if I'm picking this up, because I don't want to play Gears of War again if it didn't improve on the first one.

After playing the game for almost 2 days, I can safely say that it's a lot better than the first one. In fact, it almost makes the first one look mediocre. That may sound stupid, but that's how epic and damn right incredible it is.

I've just got onto Act 3 (I think). I'm not going to spoil it, but I'll just say that this game keeps on amazing me.

Without a doubt you need to own this game, it improves on everything, physics are insane and yes there is strategic destructible cover (not fully destroy as that would not work in a cover based game) the graphics are insane and the story much much more improved, all the reviews are spot on, this is the top Action Blockbuster game of the year.

And as for difficulty, you can now select Casual /Normal or Hardcore so all levels are now covered.

well i found gears too hard on hardcore when solo,but me and my mate did gears 2 on hardcore and there were some fights that was bit hard,but nothing too hard,

but please folks this game has to be played CO-OP for best experience,after playing the game in co-op i could go as far as saying it was built around co-op,not single player as there are some trully amazing moments to be had with ya mates.

my only issue is I HATE GEARS ONLINE.
not that its not good but there is too many kids,cheats and muppets,so no online for me,but then again i just got banjo so i can play that now.

This game looks freaking amazing. I can't wait to try out horde mode today after work.

And Omegaheat, I hope your son is at least 16 or 17 years old if you're getting this game for him.

In a way i wish i was in your position as you are not expecting the world but you will be amazed when you play through it, i'm on ACT5 now, and i thought ACT4 was the best action gaming i had done in my life so far, but ACT5 just blew it out of the water.
