Some of the most curious people out there have certainly noticed that a demo of Love Football has appeared on the japanese Live Marketplace. Unfortunately, and I think that's a first, this demo will only work on a japanese 360 so if you downloaded it you have lost a lot of time and bandwidth for nothing. Anyway, I have the chance to own such a system so I've captured this video of the demo. I've been rather pleasantly surprised by the game. Not that it's great, but I had extremely low expectations. The gameplay isn't bad and controlling only one player certainly changes everything compared to PES or Fifa. It's too bad the graphics are really average, to say the least, and that the animation could have used some more work.
The videos have been captured at 60 fps, so the 720p version requires a very powerful computer to play back smoothly. Also I used a new encoding method that allowed me to get a less "blurry" image than usual.
Wow, it looks like they got the "school playground AI" down to an art. How much bloody space do they want to give the attackers? A game where you control one player out of eleven needs to have amazing AI for your team-mates or it becomes a tedious mess.
Also Japan need to fire their kitman, it looks like he stored the kit in a laundry basket.
Love Football folows in the proud tradition of many other Japanese Xbox 360 games with ununoressive last-gen graphics. I get the distinct impression that Japanese game companies save their top programming teams for the PS3 and let the third rate teams work on Xbox 360 games. Exceptions to this rule are Namco and Team Ninja (and of course the MS published titles). Everything else looks like crap.

Oops, I meant Capcom instead of Namco.... Namco is an example of a Japanese company that doesn't give any love to Xbox 360 owners. Capcom is in a whole different class with upcoming games like Dead Rising and especially Lost Planet. That demo was really excellent.
Namco haven't exactly shown anything on the PS3 that goes along with the "sabotage" theory, it just genuinely seems like some companies are being caught out by the generation switch.
i think the animations in this game look better than in any other soccer game, especially since its closer up. but the graphic are a lil wierd, i'd stil like to play it...
