Page 1 2 >>The visuals are obviously much better here than MP, you can just tell by looking at the textures on the Chimera and when firing the Bullseye.
I have been a bit skeptical if I should pick it up or not...probably not.
This will undoubtely remembered as one of the most fertile gaming seasons in history.
want it
I haven't played the first resistance, because I just didn't like the demo. I thought it was just an average shooter, so I didn't buy it. But now IGN has given it a 95 I may consider picking this one up. The reason why IGN gave it a real high score is actually the multiplayer component.
when's the new vids coming blim???
This looks much better than the first graphically...I am buying it for single player, I don't play games online
Id go crazy....er... if i didnt play games online ;P
Sorry, just had to say it, again.. These things simply spoil it for me, and I rather not play a game then.. I think it's not as obvious if it is 3rd person, that's why I think those games fit the consoles better then FPS.. *imho*
The game looks cool, but I guess I will never get used to FPS games controlled with analog sticks.. Right from the start it looks so 'artificial' the way the player aims and looks arround, not natual and smooth at all, like you are a robot or something..

Funny, imo mouse-movement is not natural.
Only some very nervous crack-head would aim in real-life as quick and disoriented as one aims with a mouse...
The only other issue i have with it is the sound.. which is great for the most part, but why does the friendly AI sound like his vocals have been recorded over a 4track?
Impressive scale though.
probably the only FPS this year worth buying. (not like there has been many to begin with) got it pre-ordered. just a matter of waiting an extra month compared you the yanks...typical.
Here's but a few of them;
- Fallout 3
- Mirrors Edge
- Left 4 Dead
- Bioshock (PS3)
- Far Cry 2
- Call of Duty: World At War
Less than usual but surely that's a good thing? Wasn't long ago people were complaing how we were being over run by FPS...
As for the actual game, I'm still not decided myself. I don't really play online on my PS3 so it's all about the single player for me. The original was average at best so that's whats really putting me off. Well, that and the bucket load of games being released right now.
None the less, I think I'm going to wait for more reviews to roll in before I make a decision.
Just try to beat a fps on console. you get used to the sticks.

Like I said, look at the beginning of video 1, how the player moves and looks arround like a robot.. And why do all console FPS games have aiming assist, and not on PC? If you still don't get it, then I'm talking to a brick wall here..
i REALLY need to play through the first game so I can get this one v.v
The whole exhaust pipe thing looks a bit too much like a really linear Scarab though, I hope they have stuff like that to figth that are less linear.
I did play serious shooters on my Xbox, and I do on my Xbox 360, but mainly 3rd person ones like Gears of War etc.. Did you ever play serious FPS on the PC for longer periodes of time? I doubt it.. Otherwise you wouldn't call aiming with a mouse disorienting.. because it's the opposite, it's the fastest and most precise way to aim in a FPS game, and feels most natural like pinpointing a target with your eyes..

You're kidding, right?

so that leaves far cry 2, the fake cod sequel, left 4 dead and this, not many really is it. which sucks for an FPS fan like myself.
tbh. fallout isnt really a first person shooter since a lot of it is stat based combat since its an RPG. mirrors edge is more of a fiirst person platformer which happens to have a little bit of shooting in it. bioshock has been out a year so i dont count that.

There's lots of sub-genres in the FPS genre these days, so when someone says FPS, to me that means all games in first person view which involve a gun.
I do see what you mean though. If you're after a more traditional FPS then you don't really have alot of choice this year.
None the less, after last year I'd much other genres got the spotlight (LPB, Fable 2, Banjo 3?).
You're kidding, right?
This year has plenty of FPS goodness.. and that comes from a pretty dedicated fan of the genre like myself. Especially since you forgot Warhead (I know, it's out already)... and with FEAR 2 just around the bend.. well we're in business!
