Ubisoft's and Midway's Wheelman will be released tomorrow on X360, PS3 and PC, and here are the First 10 minutes of it in video. Tons of people were positively surprised by the demo, while I myself was thrilled that they finally sorted out the framerate. The uni has kept me extremely busy lately so I haven't been able to play it much, but initially it's a bit better than I thought it would be. The city feels a bit dead and some vehicle controls and odd animations can be all over the place, the AI can also be pretty stupid. But the missions have been pretty enjoyable so far, so it will be interesting to see if the they will have any variety further in. I'm off now again, but if there's interest for a part 2 of the video I'll put it up tonight.
The video takes off just as the main mission in the demo ends.
The demo was fun and weirdly the game looks better than the cutscenes just like stranglehold. I really hate these terrible cutscenes graphics though. It just makes me feel bad looking at it. Judging from the demo vehicles are easy to control but chasing down those cars is annoying. The drivers some how know you are coming for them and they make tricky turns and it takes forever to catch the cars. At first I was doing something wrong but still I couldn't catch them with a car. I had to use a motorcycle. Anyway this is most likely a $30 purchase for me. No doubt it'll be on sale for that much on amazon later this year. Same with Wanted. 2 for 1.
The demo was passable entertainment and I got my 20 minutes of fun out of it but then it was free. The game lacks atmosphere though, the city is a bit lifeless and the cutscenes are pretty awful, especially the faces.
The final game is supposed to a bit mediocre, both IGN and Eurogamer have given it 4.8/10 and 5/10 respectively. If you must pick it up, go for the cheaper PC version or rent it first.
In the cutscenes, Vin Diesel actually looks kinda cute baby-face LOL
The police radar stuff was kinda cool, getting out of their field-of-view.
Writing's pretty decent, and so is voice acting.
One thing I hated from the demo, was when you'd about to "airjack", the driver would drive too fast and you'd miss, and then crash your car easily because you're not focusing on driving.
