DjMziuhara sent us the video of the first 10 minutes of Ryu Ga Gotoku 3, better known for us as Yakuza 3. More to come later probably. Update: Second video added, showing a boss fight and some mini games.
Character movement looks terrible... often feels like player is disoriented in battle, throwing punches and kicks in the air, failing to hit an enemy...
damn this game looks awesome...better make its way over here... City looks much nicer during the day than during night time...also character models are amazing
Got the game as well. The game is very cool and looks really impressive in person. Only problem is I also got Star Ocean 4 and that game is easily the best looking RPG ever, so it makes Ryu ga Gotoku 3 look kind of mediocre in direct comparison. Not trying to start any war, this is just the impression I get when switching back and forth between games and it has actually bothered me.
i think gta4 has spoiled me for open world games, because the city in this game just looks so lifeless,if that makes sense,it really looks like it could be fun though, but the fact that in my opinion(only judging from this video) it just hasn't had enough work and time put into it, it could be the fact that the most impressive game developers for this genre,do not come from the east imo
I don't think the main purpose of the dev to put in this game were the graphics.
The storyline is first. Then the gameplay which is not that hard. And all the mini games and features put in it.
I guess those are the most important for the japanese audience the game is targeting first.
Dudes, people who think this looks bad I understand completely.
But Japanese games catering for a smaller Japanese install base, can't have all the technical wonderful details Western ones do, it's actually awesome this is such an upgrade from RGG2.
But it's just the player that sucks (sorry DJmizuhara, I am sure you were just getting used to it), that game is so damn awesome, I really wish it was gettign a Western release.
Well, I don't know why people are comparing Yakuza to GTA, because actually Yakuza doesn't try to be a GTA like game. In my opinion it's far more of a "Beat'em UP RPG", than a "sandbox" game.
Well this is dissapointing..i thought it looked amazing from the trailers but it turns out it doesnt....the animations are horrid, and the way NPC's sometimes seem to swarm around you is kinda creepy...plus they seem to walk around almost aimlessly in the middle of the street? no moving cars anywhere its kinda weird...w/e
Yakuza always plays within pedestrian zones (so, no, ofcourse you can't steal cars - as I said above you, it's not a GTA kind of game and it doesn't try to be)

Okay but its not like i said i would like to see cars being stolen and driven, i just thought it looked weird that there werent any and people just wandering around aimlessly is all...thats just my opinion, doesnt matter.
Again, people who have no clue what they're talking about and haven't played it. You can even walk into streets with cars in the Okinawa area (as far as I've gotten in the game so far). The NPCs walk as aimfully as any other modern game except Oblivion and Fallout. Those 2 are the only games that really have NPCs actually 'going' anywhere...
It is made of Japanese ... it has lots of cool thing and much better than GTA4 IMO overall it lacks the polish though. But not that bad what some of you think
I really wish this was all voiced. It's pretty easy to understand when it is, except when the yakuzas start talking in crazy Oosaka-ben, but the large amount of kanji filled text is too much for me to comprehend.
Still, I'm tempted to import all the same as I doubt SEGA will ever release this in the West.

i know what type of game it is,i am a fan of the series, all im saying is that the characters seem so rigid and lifeless....its more euphoria in gta then anything that im talking about, what an innovation that system is

an innovation, yet an annoyance at the same time imo. personally i think R* made a mistake implimenting euphoria into the player character movement. it's great for death animations but i found moving johnny in particular very awkward...almost like he weighs several tons. it alows for a greater range of animations (dynamic ones at that) in terms of bumping into cars/objects or standing on uneven surfaces, but i dont particularly like how heavy it feels to move them.

its just the player isnt very good thats all
that's because the player isn't using the lock-on option, that is present in the game
