Eidos provides a new developer diary of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, dealing with the game's sound and music, in the compagny of the audio director, the composer and the voice of Adam Jensen. About ten days before our review and the game's release.
Design is great, soundtrack seems cool, gameplay might be great, really hard to tell thus far but graphics are really unfortunately, quite shit. Loads of annoying screen tearing visible in almost every trailer they show and I can't deal with that, it's a real experience breaker annoyance for me.
Still, I hope it is gone in the final build, really no excuse for it with such an overall underwhelming engine at work.
Thankfully the artistic direction and atmosphere make up for the technical limitation of the engine, which imo, make it look far more appealing then say, battlefield 3. There is no question as to which is the technically superiour title. But one has completely uninspired art, the other does. People assume the only reason i like graphical benchmark games such as god of war or killzone is because of the technical acheivements, but it's more the artistic merits. Good art can take a technically mediocre game like deus ex, demon's souls, fable, mass effect etc and make it look like a world you WANT to explore and be a part of.
The only artistic choice i'm not a huge fan of is the tiny head syndrome. But i can live with it.

How can you call BF3 uninspired in terms of art? It's going for as realistic as possible. You can't judge BF3 on artstyle, only on realism. Mass Effect on PC isn't mediocre at all. You're saying strange things now.
Mass effect isnt a top teir game game in terms of technical accomplishments, not even close. It's a par for the course game visually. But artistically its amazing. One of the best sci-fi worlds i've seen in a game, and even film.
As for BF3, if a game goes for realism, then it has uninspired art. It may be it's intention, but it doesnt make it any less true.

I swear to god, i am the only person on this planet, not fussed about this game.. there is something about it that looks.. not very intresting.
Dont quote me on that, i could be completely wrong, but nothing that i have seen and read makes me want to buy this game..
It's uninspired the same way still life artwork is. As i said, it's intentional for the likes of gran turismo and battlefield, but it doesnt change the fact it's an uninspired subject and world. Even when you work with reality as your base, you can still inject personality and style. Battlefield does neither, it's uninspired in everything it does. Location, artstyle, gameplay...but then that is it's intention, it's doing the same middle eastern modern war games we've seen countless times the last 5 years, but doing it with more technical oompf. That's it.
It is the exact opposite of what deus ex is doing, which is inspired in everything it does, but lacks technical oompf...hence why i used it as an example in the first place.

Nope, I am not that interested either, as of now.
Like I said, art is great and music, the rest, I dont care.
One thing that I hate is that stealth is in the game which is fine, but first person? annoying.
Game needs a button like Oblivion were you can go into third person view so you can stealth and then first person for the rest.
Who knows, maybe I will give it a go after release, but ah well.
ManYouFear You like what you like i guess. There is a lot of things to like though so i'm surprised you don't like even one aspect. For me first it's the atmosphere, which i may end up loathing possibly for being so golden- hardly a complaint though given that's what it is. Choice options would be the second then but it's a shame you can rollback those if you don' like the outcome- as indeed the guy admitted to
Ok theif you have me there :)
But overall i find most games to be lacking in the stealth compartment compared to the likes of Splinter Cell.. mind you i think the stealth in MGS is absolute shit.. so it's probally just me lol

more artistic preference rather than graphical prowess. You cant argue that the artist direction in this is alot more inspired than in a game like BF3... just as something like Limbo is.

Art is IMO suppose to be something someone came up with to make it new and unique (hence all the fantasy and sci fi stuff).
I agree on Mass Effect, one of the best sci fi universes in games and movies.
