Bethesda has released the fourth dev diary of Rage, dedicated this time to the Wasteland as well as the game's missions and multiplayer. The game from id Sofwtare will be out in October.
I love how they make it sound like they've created all this innovative gameplay.
I think the game looks cool and it will probably be good, but there isn't a single new mechanic or approach to how this game works.

vansant, ID did invent egoshooter overall, so they are goddamn allowed to call themselves the inventors ;)
I can't wait.
Yeah, I didn't say anything about them not being the inventors of the genre. But it's not 1990, so when you talk about things like caring for the characters, electrifying water and freedom for the players as if it's a new concept it sounds a little silly. Game looks great as I said, now why don't you pull Carmack's junk out from your behind.[/quote]

In sea of Modern Military games Rage comes as a new thing considering it offers no weapon limit, various kinds of inventory, races and vehicle combat, also vehcle combat in MP, economy system and so on.
You sound butthurt for some reason.
Also running at 60fps looking like that on consoles "IS" original on its own this days IMO.
PS.
They are id Software, they can pretty much say whatever they want to say, you wouldn't be able to play this days shooters if it wasn't for them.

That's a cop out. They haven't made a great game since Quake 3 Arena. And yea, the Wasteland is such an original setting :/
Thats because they are victims of his own late release and delays.
This game has been in development time since before the recent wasteland games were released so I don't thinks is a fair thing to say this is unoriginal IMO.
And none of that changes the fact that there are a load of wasteland games on the market, new and old. But this isn't as bad as people complaining about dusty, war torn settings and then celebrating a return to the freaking jungle. ;)
I'm all for original settings. This doesn't strike me as terribly original.. something like Bioshock does.

Exactly.
AGAIN, game looks great, But I'm a bit tired of all the same games with different paint jobs. No one is pushing anymore, BF3 looks great, I love that series, but it's the same thing. Everything is a shooter these days and if thats going to be the case I would love for someone to do something different. I don't care who they are or what they've done in the past. It's about what they're doing now and Rage is doing nothing new.
Obviously games in this genre are doing nothing new so you should probably consider some Suda games, or japanese games in general, like that Catherine game, is like nothing I have ever played ever in my life.

You should play other games then.

Yeah your right, maybe I'll dust off my Dreamcast and pick up Seamen.

Are they only showing the console version in these videos? Cause the grfx are not that impressive for an ID game.
got the same impression. Maybe it's also the art style, but I remember having seen some pretty impressive screenshots. Hope they weren't bullshots, but I'm afraid they can't live up to the hype they've created around the gfx.

You know John Carmack is sounding very arrogant in his claims of 60fps versus other games, yet what is the native resolution of this game or it is another "smoke and mirrors" game on consoles?

Rage is a 6 year game for God's sake.

Definitely can't wait to get my hands on it!
PS. The NPCs design and behavior reminds me alot of Borderlands, but nothing bad, I like it.
