The independent scene was also present at the announcement of the PS4. Jonathan Blow, creator of Braid, came to show The Witness. This is a puzzle game that will be played in open-world on an island, and it should be available for download on the next Sony console. Here are some pictures.

This game reeked as "stupid concept that needed to be done b/c i have to make something to top Braid" since inception, not a game that came from an actual cool concept he devised.
What's more important is that Sony is accommodating for indie games that aren't platform-exclusive unlike Microsoft, so this sends a clear message to indie devs who have been burned by XBLA and hopped on the PC-Steam train.
All XBLA Indie games are just a publishing slot in on XBLA, they are on Steam a couple of months later: Trials: Evo, Trenched, ITSP, Mark of the Ninja. Say the same for any, or almost any PS3 DD game?
No.
And you make it sound dumb, there was only 1 "indie looking" game on the conference, this and no other. it wasn't even a Indie segment.
The levels, art, ethereal look and auto-biography story came later.
The game looks and concept is like this since day one, you can confirm from here: http://the-witness.net/news/ going from new to old posts.
Just wishing to make a Myst game, doesn't make it so.

Many indie developers hate XBLA now, after being burned out on the lack of games advertising, place on the marketplace, and most of them migrating their next games to PC-only/Steam. Sony has typically been nicer to indie devs in advertising and financial support. So when Blow talks good of the PS4, a dude who's been burned by Microsoft, and is THE spokesperson for the indie game movement, lots of indie devs will be paying attention to the PS4.
i.e. Microsoft needs to step up their game on supporting indie devs all the way to advertising on marketplace, and not just for development costs.
Talk to Behemoth, talk to any indie dev that sold a fuckton on XBLA and they will be in high heavens. Indie dev = self centric mouthpiece most of the time, it means jack shit.
You are just grasping at straws and making general assumptions based on single cases.
I fell asleep about 10 minutes into the presentation (mostly because it was late here..) so I missed this. Really looking forward it.
EDIT: here it is ... http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-02-22-the-w...
And yeah, he's vocal but i don't think he's dumb enough to say anything that'd tarnish his reputation as indie-god. Being bought by Sony certainly sounds like something that might put a dent in such a reputation. Not that i'm saying that's what happened.
PS. Explosions are shit.
