Tony Hawk RIDE trailer

Tony Hawk RIDE trailer

As expected Activision is trying to replicate the huge success of the Guitar Hero series with another plastic accessory, and this time it's the aged Tony Hawk series that will maybe get a much needed change with Tony Hawk: Ride.

Dirt Grid Pure Fuel Ride.
Give me a break!! Geez..

Sometimes i cant believe how little imagination publishers (or whoever it is who decides it) have when it comes to game titles. Everything is just a copycat title. :P
I just had to vent about that.

Ha ha yeah I agree, the titles are getting very lame.

I'm extremely curious how they will make this work. A skateboard game like Guitar Hero?? Me thinks it's going to look quite silly in the livingroom.

There's a video on Gametrailers.com were they demonstrate how the board works.

So ... many people (including me) love skateboarding games because I can do wild stuff in the game even though my balance is so crappy that I would brake something when I tried standing on a real board.

And now I'm expected to stand on a plastic board to do stuff in the game and like it?

Whoever thought that would be a good idea?!

I hope those things come with a loooooong warranty. They're gonna need it, this is a disaster in the making.

I lol at this stuff. Some people (Wii buyers mainly) actually think this technology is next gen when in fact it has been in arcades for the past 10 years.

meh, oh well any gimmick that sells is a good gimmick i guess...

*cough* halo. cod. gears. pgr. pong. Tetris. Frogger, mario. Short names help people to recognise and communicate about a game more easily. DUH! Its intentional because it works.

Would you rather they called their game "pro skate boarder tony hawk's sponsored skate boarding game 124: virtual reality plastic skate board control scheme edition" ?

I don't think he was talking about how they're just one word. Pretty much every game you mentioned actually has a NAME, with the possible exception of Pong (debatable). What Baleur was getting at is the dumb new fad of choosing a random word that somehow fits in with the genre and sticking it as the title, none of those are names at all, they should be part of the game description on the back of the box, not stuck on the front in giant letters.

Intrigued in seeing how it actually works, but i think i'd rather hold a regular controller on my hands. Also, how am i supposed to reach the buttons?

(while posting i watched a youtube video of gameplay and the guy playing fell from the board -ingame- a few seconds after he started playing, so my guess is: It is really awkward or really hard, or maybe the guy had never gotten on a skateboard before, either way i still rather have a controller...).

About the game

What's up?
  • Megido
Megido That's actually funny. Zapkowski said that the games aren't canon in his view, but i guess CDPR decieds what's canon and not if they own the IP. Hahaha. (4 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts made, he wouldn't get a penny. Nor have artistic rights to how they should or should not be used. It was a really, really bad deal for him. (5 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts @Megido: That's true as well. He obviously did a bad job with selling. Also, if I'm not mistaken, CD Projekt RED has the full rights to The Witcher IP, meaning that if any movies or TV show is ever (6 minutes ago)
  • Megido
Megido Also, he wouldn't be whining if he didn't sell his friggin IP instead of taking a cut. (10 minutes ago)
  • Megido
Megido @Sdarts: He wrote the first witcher stories in the 80s mang, and the main witcher saga in the 90's. Before the games nobody knew, now The Witcher is a huge global thing. I think it was a win for him. (12 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts *Into the Badlands (46 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts For those who want action and great fights, I really recommend "Int the Badlands" on AMC. The fights' coreography are amazing and the story is good enough to keep the action going. (46 minutes ago)
