EA has released 12 screenshots of Syndicate that show the 4 players coop mode from the game. We'll put the trailer online once we have it in good quality. The game will be out in February 2012. Update: Coop trailer added.
Yeah I didn't play the original syndicate so I don't have any rose tinted nostalgia glasses on, and with that I think this game looks pretty exciting great look, interesting combat mechanics and the world seems intriguing too.
A sci-fi shooter made by Starbreeze, the creators of Chronicles of Riddick and The Darkness. And now with 4 player co op. Sounds like a winner to me. I'm definitely picking this one up.
See like DMC and other games that have undergone changes, there always seems to be a loud vocal minority who whinge and complain that the developers are desecrating their beloved franchise. They focus on insignificant things such as hair colour and perspective, Dismissing the probability that it could be a good game in it's own right and thus not giving it the chance to prove itself...

To make money? Hook people in with the nostalgia of a classic name and serve them up some freshly cooked fps action in this veritable fps drought we're experiencing. ;)

Another "FPS = GENERIC" Sheep eh? You don't have to like shooters, but saying it's generic just because it's a shooter is down right stupid. From what has been seen of the game, it's been more than just popping heads. It's hard for a big company to make a game like the original in this day and age but plenty of little guys are making shit like that if that's all you care to play.

I played Gradius ,Thunderforce ,Contra and all the rest of them !
But you might be talking about FPS,and here the same..I was there,and have seen them all !
Compare this here now with Syndicate and its GARBAGE !
Call it something else and you would have had me interested !

That game has some hardcore fans and they will bash the hell out of the new game

Not in all cases. What the developers are doing with Xcom is nothing short of pising on the fans and the legacy of the game. It was a fairly deep turn-based strategy game for fucks sake, and it was good! Doing a contiuation of that would be the good way to go about it, specially when the market is so insanly oversaturated with shitty shooters anyway. Same with Syndicate. Some publisher wanker demands it be a FPS becasue that's the hot thing right now and BAM, there goes any hint of creativity or originality.

People comparing it to Deus Ex must look at those hands, the textures and models in DE were far better than these.
Interest for this game just took a knock, will see how things pan out closer to release time.
