Guys, i watched a couple of German versions of the game and i can tell you, the dubbing is so crap they really messed up there. Really pathetic

Many gamers don't like the game, and I have not played it yet...im not gonna buy it...
I want to play a demo of it first, to see what im really think of this game...

They should launch a Demo with a bit of everything. Combat+Driving+Adventure.

Other way, the reviews are gonna shit on every aspect, people are gonna trust only on them and the game is gonna bomb. hard.

I play the game since Tuesday and I really like it. The german dubbing is as usual not that good but it's not as bad as it was stated by some german reviews. You can also switch the language to English,French and I think there were some others as well. The controls are very bad sometimes but you will get used to it. The gameplay can be very hectic sometimes but I really love the atmosphere/mood, the storytelling and the art direction. I really don't get why some reviews only gave a 6 out of 10 because in my opinion it's still worth 8/10.The game has some superb ideas and that make up for the control scheme and the sometimes frustrating trial&error things. I also really like the way they start the game if you continue it. It mixes cutscenes and gameplay sequences to give you a summary of what happened until now, like 24. "Previously on Alone in The Dark"....

IGN said it was good and awarded it a 7. Not a masterpiece but it's enough for me to buy it. Most people seem to find the controls it's weakest point but I think I can live with that. Story based games are awesome.

It is indeed a sometimes frustrating game because of the controls. Atari tried to innovate on that part, but forgot that it has to be easy to pick up. Otherwise the game has some really good moments. I give Atari a lot of credit for the fact that they tried to make something that is new. Kudos for that. But they should have realized that when the controls are frustrating, that it takes away the real enjoyment of that feeling that you are in total control. Still a game that is worth buying for those who are in doubt.

I been playing a bit and it feels really cheesy, not scary at all.

Controls are a bit crap and sometimes the camera angels are annoying!
Its an OK game..

Was really looking forward to this game. Got it yesterday and traded it in after all the reports of crappy and frustrating controls. That's something I can do without.

The game also only takes 10 hours max to complete, so it's hardly worth the money to begin with.

What, you bought the game, and then found "reports" of the bad controls and THEN traded it in? Did you play the game, or you have this thing of impulse buying???

I got the game knowing I could trade it in 24 hours after purchase. I knew I wanted Top Spin 3 for sure so this was a try out. I was impressed with certain features of the game and got it without real "investigation" as I knew I could trade it in anyway. After readin some reviews and impressions last night, before actually getting around playing the game, I figured I wouldn't take any chances and get TS3 instead today before I can't trade it in anymore. That's why.

It got a lot of bad/average reviews so far. thats a shame considering that this game had so much hype. i guess thats what happens when you put a woman in charge of a highly hyped game (Assassins Creed anyone?). but no in all seriousness, i am not sexist i just don't think thats really giving woman any help if two big games turned out nothing more than average.

I'm going to go with my gut and buy this game based on the fact I think it has a certain charm to it that is worth playing.

It kinda reminds me of a cross between Alan Wake and Farenheit which is definately a plus. I`m going to hope that this can tide me over until Mr Wake finally arrives in the shops.

I really hope you're refering to atmosfere & aesthetics.
We still haven't seen a proper still/footage of alan wake's real gameplay.

More detail please. I'm having a hard time believing you, or maybe I just misunderstood. You shop at a store that let's you bring the game home, open it, and play it... then bring it back and "return it" or "trade it in"? Are they giving you full price back or do you have to take a price cut? If it's full price then you're the luckiest gamer in the world. I would kill to have a store like that!

Yes, is that so remarkable?!

You have 24 hours the time to trade it in. Then you can get your money back or buy something else there. It's standard policy here in the Netherlands. Only for software that is. Anything else can be returned withing 14 days...opened or not. Offcourse, you first have to return it to the service center where they'll investigate the state of the product and when found good...you'll get your money back.

In my case it was at the "Media Markt" and the guy at the service center, who was a gamer himself, even told me I should've finished the game first as they aren't too strict over there regarding this. I could've easily returned it a few days later and gotten my money back. It's not usual for most stores here in Holland, but in that place they are more flexible that way apparently.

Amazing! There's nothing like that here in the U.S. Every store is getting way to strict on their return policies. Of course if they didn't, I'd most likely abuse the hell out of it so it's probably a good thing :P

I can see the ambition, but from watching gameplay videos it seems like some mechanics needed more polish.

i can't belive it's as bad as the 4players.de stated...

About the game

What's up?
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker Personally i find Kojima rather overrated. Yes MGS and MGS3 were fantastic, 2 wasn't nearly as good, same for 4 and 5....nah. (47 minutes ago)
  • nostradamus
nostradamus @jmd749: Kojima Productions is independent. wrap that and give it away to your other half. (1 Hour ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Ultimates do drive big plays. Don't think it makes everyone Seagull. (1 Hour ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I've played a ton of Halo too. Just not Halo 5 because I'm not a masochist. (1 Hour ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @Tiz: "Individual skill" still drives top players to become top players in OW. The team with the better comp *and* better players is going to win. (1 Hour ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @Tiz: Eh.. "more dependant on individual skill" is one way to look at it. (1 Hour ago)
  • jmd749
jmd749 @droezelke: it's awesome that one of the greatest minds in game development is given funding and respect. And using a hardware specific engine for his new game suggests he'll be a Sony 1st party dev. (1 Hour ago)
