You know which version of the game this is? It looks like it's being controlled with a gamepad, but it doesn't have the 360 buttons appearing on usable item contexts like that gametrailers user video posted in the other FC2 post.

the technology invested in FPS engines and games is amazing, but i wonder if all of it is worth it. i mean the way that map comes up, is that nessecary to the core gameplay of the game.

Hah. Vernon Kay presenting, haven't seen him in a while. Felt like he was a bit out of his element ;).

Game looks great, all stuff we've seen before though. I love the map being a real game object in front of you. Reminds me a bit of Alone in the Darks new system. Not sure which came first.

Fair play Vernon - I know that he is big on gaming, particularly the 360.

Though, I will never forgive him for not accepting my friend request on Xbox live! Damn you and your Bolton accent! :(

As for the game, looks 'tres' pretty. ;)

I love the fact that they've totally eliminated the UI and brought everything to an on-screen real-life representation, like the map feature. Great ideas, looking forward to this game. Instincts was absolutely killer on the Xbox and I can't wait to see what surprises are in store for us while playing. I really hope they keep some sort of the primal powers from Instincts in there, that was such a crazy unique thing the game had.

Instincts was okay, but it was a shell of the original Far Cry on PC (in terms of gameplay mechanics and complexity). Far Cry 2, as per its development philosophy, definitely looks to bring back the glory of the first game, and not in a dumbed-down, consolized or simplified format.

Actually if anything, Far Cry 2 looks to expand greatly on both Crytek's efforts (Far Cry 1 and Crysis). An actual truly open world game with far more gameplay mechanics than shooting and riding vehicles...

Yep.
I'm pretty sure the guy actually says at the end of the video that it's the PC version, but that it's "no different" than the 360 or PS3 versions of the game. I suspect that the only differences will be in image quality, and maybe better texture assets (oh no, I'm gonna get grilled!).. otherwise I'm sure they'll be mostly identical.

Can't wait to see the system requirements. It's quite framey in this video and I can only imagine that they're running on a pretty high end rig.

nice, looks similar to crysis but in an even bigger enviroment...Ill buy this for my laptop most prob

Yes this looks better in gameplay optios vise the Crysis. Burn everybody or use the night to cut some ppl in stealth. Woulde be cool to get vids from each booth , PS3 , 360 and PC version , just to look at them.

GriftGFX is correct, it's the PC version.. The guy says in the end 'console versions are the same as you see on PC here right now'..

Game looks very impressive graphically..

I like the idea of an open world FPS and it looks like the tech is there. But it's so far and away from every version of FC I've ever played, I wonder why they even bother calling it that.

What other gameplay mechanics are there other than shooting and riding vehicles?

The main concept of "Far Cry" has always been large, expansive, open levels, set in natural environments with huge draw distances that allow the player total freedom and mobility to use totally different tactics in taking down large groups of mercenaries, however they want to. Seems extremely consistent to the Far Cry name to me.

I just love the wind, the fire.. this seems a lot more advanced than crysis

  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Yeah it's brilliant. I wouldn't say it's nothing like AC1, but AC1 just seems like a bizarrely long, super early demo of 2. (2 Hours ago)
