Yeh the demo really altered my opinion, I'm still waiting for the Fight Night Round 4 demo before I decide which one to purchase.

Didn't like FNR4 demo as they removed the button controls, its all analog stick controls now, horrible. I'd stick to UFC'09 for my boxing/kicking shenanigans! :)

Yeah fight night demo didn't win me over like I expected it to. Although I still enjoyed it. The main problem with this game though is that you can connect a good punch within the first few seconds and win the game, it ends to quickly. They should have had some sort of 'get up' system like in fight night when you get knocked down. Not sure what game I wanna get, this or fight night.

Depends what you want really, I find it far more satisfying over Fight Night as I always hankered for a decent K1/Kicking boxing game, UFC'09 delivers and then some. As for pez-1's reply; what's button control gotta do with noob-style? you can't mash the buttons and expect to win in either FN4 or UFC'09, both games takes strategy and patience, but as the button controls for FNR4 was taken out, it must of been button mashing that plagued the previous game of the series. With UFC'09, it simply doesn't have any of FN's flaws :)

the demo was okay, i found the gameplay quite stiff

The knock outs in this game are more to do with luck and randomness than actual skill. I know people will be a bollocks and say that the real sport is like that, well no, shut up - IT ISN'T! If it were, you'd have people calling Chuck Liddell a lucky knock out specialist. No such thing. It's annoying; especially when you are beating the sweet fuck out of someone, and they just throw a lucky puch and it connects, giving you no chance and you're out of it.

With FNR4, the knock downs are as much to do with pure skill, rather than just luck. You also have to connect properly and in the right spot. You just know you worked the knock out, rather than have it by pure chance. You have to make your opponant miss, then counter, which is hugely satisfying and the main selling point for me. UFC is nothing more than a bargain bucket purchase at best for me, whereas FNR4 is just an instant purchase from day one.

A pretty feeble excuse to not like a game, if I'm honest.

Been playing online some more yesterday. I'm amazed at how much work you gotta put into the game. I love it.
After 3 rounds online it feels like you actually put some physical effort into it, with all the analogue stick rotating like mad and buttonmashing to get out of clinches or whatever its called :)

And when standing it feels so tense, because both of the players, dancing around eachother watching for an opening, knows that one single perfect blow can end the entire match.
I was just about to loose one match, the dude was sitting on top of me bashing my head bloody against the fence. Suddenly, my noobish analogue stick rotating got my character to bend his elbow back and forced a tap-out.
That was the best victory over defeat feeling ive ever had in a game.

It is a feeble one if you claim to be a so called gamer and can't adapt to a more intuitive control method in spite of what is an otherwise excellent sports game.
