Undertow video

Undertow video

Undertow is unveiled with this quite nice looking video. If you don't know Undertow (and I sure didn't) it's an underwater action game for XBLA, using the Unreal Engine 3. It explains the excellent graphics and water effects.

How would it look in a full game.

Are there Sharks in the video...if not there better be in the final game...an under water game without Sharks = instant fail :)

In the cutscene at the beginning, you can see people in the background riding hammerhead sharks. They're visible in the 3rd and 4th captures above.

That'll be awesome if the shark riders are a playable class. But I'm sure they'll at least appear as enemies or allies in the campaign. =)

pretty sure at around 20 seconds the mai ncharacter is one of those shark rider people, a second later it look like he is riding a lobster or something too.

It's nice to see something brand new on XBLA for a change.

now this is how XBL is supposed to be.

Yeah, I hope the classics get lost and flash games should be banished forever. Original games with new concepts and good graphics are the way to go.

Looks great,

but XBLA isn't my cup of tea

I'm sure fans of XBLA games will find this interesting

I dont agree with the "Sharks or fail" thing though the inclusion of sharks is cool. The way I see it graphics, sound and gameplay/feel... makes an underwater game... As for Undertow: Keewl! Underwater action I like! Ever since I jumped into water in Duke Nukem 3d I've been facinated with aquatics in games. Also I am a fan of Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea so Undertow falls right into my alley!

although the video cut very quickly you can see the player riding a shark through some parts of it, so shark riding is there. also the graphics and action look really nice.

About the game

What's up?
  • alimokrane
alimokrane FF15 had the best launch month of any final fantasy game in the US!!! and this performance does not include digital sales!!! (36 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth @Tiz: Most big games were larger than what a standard CD-ROM disc could store, so it wasn't unusual that pirated games were lacking audio tracks or movies. (1 Hour ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth @Tiz: Sega used a proprietary GD-ROM format (about 1GB discs) for storage. It did not stop piracy though as you with a bootdisc could start cd-r copies without the need to hard mod the console. (1 Hour ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I think it was apparent to people.. even before the system launched.. that the early launch of the Dreamcast was risky. So I can see how EA might want to play hardball to sweeten the deal on said risk (4 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX They also sold 2K and exited the console business... so maybe it wasn't all the best course of action after all :D (4 Hours ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz That's what I meant lol. NFL, not NHL. (4 Hours ago)
  • Tinks
Tinks it's pretty shitty to deny a system because of Visual Concepts though. They hadn't even produced anything yet and EA was a giant even then (4 Hours ago)
