I really liked the demo, I am not sure about day 1 purchase or anything, but this is my type of third person shooter, but its a SP only game so replayvalue is important.

Sam is just a badass with that suit, that is what I want to see in shooters LOL

didnt like it. running speed was far too slow considering everything else is so fast, animation transitions are jarring and messy, the core shooting feels pretty dated, the AI is some of the worst i've ever seen, the HUD is overcomplicated and again, messy. stylistically and graphically it's pretty good, and looks pretty flashy when youre playing, but it all feels a bit like style over substance. this, along with brink where/are 2 games that needed demo's before i could decide if they where for me or not, and the vanquish demo just confirmed my fears. it just isnt my type of game at all, much like bayonetta.

When i was playing, i was just zooming between covers and shooting bitches while powersliding. And how was the HUD overly complicated? Boost bar, four weapons mapped to the d-pad and the radar. End of story. The core shooting felt dated? You aim your gun at the baddies and shoot them till they die, it's not dated it's just how a shooter works :P

just how i felt. and i ment the default running speed, not including knee sliding etc. just seems weirdly slow considering EVERYHTING else was fast. shooting felt like lost planet, not perticularly tight or responsive, just a middle of the road shooter. the HUD is overcomplicated visually, ie, looks messy as hell. it just wasnt for me. i never said you had to feel the same way did i?

I just don't think the running speed has much bearing, seeing as how you are, for the most part, either behind cover or boosting :P

I don't think the shooting feels any less tight than, say, Gears of War or something like that. What the game did exceptionally well though, in my opinion, was keeping the tempo high constantly, i've only played through the demo twice but i've never found myself perched behind some block of concrete, just waiting for some guy to poke his head out. It's always fast and intense action. I guess some people will like it and some won't.

yeah, the game is frantic but i don't think "tightening" up the controls would lend itself especially well to the pace of the game. I guess i can agree that the HUD isn't exactly beautiful, but i think it works. It relays the info needed even if it is a bit of an eyesore, it doesn't really bother me since i find the gameplay to be so engaging. I can forgive and forget a ton of nitpicks when a game gets me wrapped up in the action like this.

I read your post again as well and i might have gone over it a bit fast the first time, it deos not seem like you think it's a bad game per se, just that it's not for you. My bad.

Hmm, I watched the vid, and even though (as always) the image quality is dreamy (there's a reason I've been coming here daily for years), I must say the way the player plays is a bit of a turn off... He's basically missing out on all the cool stuff, which means that we are too.

Don't take offense, but this is how you're supposed to play Vanquish :P

Day one purchase! Just what i wanted out of a shooter from the devs of bayonetta, stupidly cheesy, completely over the top and stylish as fuck.
If you want to have fun with this game you should forget everything you know about third person shooters, screw that whole advancing slowly between cover to outflank bs, go nuts be agressive, abuse the bullet time, boost like a motherfucker and focus on being as awesome as possible.

I loved the demo!

And I don't agree with anything KORN said :P

And I agree with everything Megido said *shock*

Always on the move poeple,dashing,jumping from cover to slow mo,dashing melee big robots,dashing,dashing!! always!!

Controls when you adjust it to your needs becomes the more tighter controls in any 3rd person shooter,speed of running its fine and in the end doesnt matter at all you are not suposed to be running that much,dashing its what its all about,if you are running from cover to cover you are playing it wrong simple as that.

Now you have to use the boost system strategically,not because you can use it it means you have to drain it every time,use it to take down some robot and move on replenishing it while you are it.

I personally loved it very much,just about everything worked for me that I played it 10 times in a row XD even more thatn Bayonetta that was 7 times in a row.

Elena Ivanova is hot as hell!!!

Well if you had fun then fine :D

After all it all comes down to the game's design. If the developpers really wanted you to play it only one way, they would design the game so that you die if you try to play any other way. The fact that you managed to go through the whole demo shows that they let you choose.

On the move, exagerated style that shows what badass means (among other characters like Ryu Hayabusa of course), super fast, chaotic, intense!

Has the Lost Planet style of aiming which is meh, but is fast which is great. Only other gripe I had was the fact that the grenade animation was terrible and messed up your positioning.

there is the possibility of his running speed getting quicker with upgrades, I sense that there will be some form of metroid boost run implemented in the full game.

Great demo. I had enough fun with it to play through it twice and loved the end boss fight. It almost had a somewhat old school Contra vibe to it, only on steroids and pcp.

Doesn't feel at all like Lost Planet,I have played it and hated that but this feels more like Gears on steroids.

The throwing granades animation its because he was a Football player,he throws it exactly like a Quaterback throws the ball lol

Yeah i disagree with the lost planet likeness as well. It LOOKS a little bit like Lost planet, i can agree on that, but it doesn't paly like it at all in any way...if it does you are doing something wrong. Very wrong.
