Video of GRAW 2 solo demo

Ubisoft released a solo demo for GRAW 2 on X360, and I just did a walkthrough video of the entire piece of level offered there. Needless to say, I haven't touched a GRAW for a long time, and it shows !

Ok, the AI is horrible, when your team is attacked by some rockets and you're charging towards the enemy camp. The enemys coming out of the rock formation just looked plain dumb...

Wow, french dub can make the coolest thing uncool just like that.

That was badass and with obvious improvements over the first game. I'm not a big fan of the HUD though. It looks a bit too much at times. I wonder if we will have the option of removing the HUD in this installment. I guess I've been a little spoiled by Gears of War.

Its a demo. You all need to chill out with the negative comments. Be glad we got a demo that is actually early and you know who it is by. Took forever to get the GRAW demo out and now they surprised us. Well I am satisfied. The game doesnt come out tomorrow so stop acting like this is the final version. I am glad the night vision is back.

I agree with Tarrell13,
It's just a demo, and it's free.
And as a matter of fact, it is pretty fun the whole way through...
HUD is one of the biggest things about the GRAW so that's not likely to change.
I'm personally not going to buy this, because I'm still very upset with Ubisoft for not putting enough work into GRAW1 and cheating it's buyers by having a price on Chapter 2. This game is for those hardcore GRAW fans, so try not to complain about short term demo problems or the essential things that define the GRAW series.

I hope they release a multiplayer demo too...The explosions in the gameplay are beautiful.

P.S. The day to night cycle has also been done really well so when playing one can actually notice a total change in atmosphere and consequently even revert to a new strategy.

Atleast it is different from GRAW 1.

i like to see a first person view with a gunsight just like the showed in the first clip of graw.

I finished the demo just a little while back. On one hand it's nice because it depicts US Special Forces in a believable environment that feels like it matters. The sounds are still awesome. I like the new ability to take first person command of other units such as the UAV drone and Mule, and appreciate the lighting in particular as it strikes a nice balance between realism and artistic style. The mortar explosions, while on the aliased side, look great simply because of the way they animate.

On the other hand, it plays just like the first GRAW, which was fine for its time but feels extremely clunky after Gears of War and Lost Planet. Sure, it's a different type of shooter but there's a point where "tactical" is just an excuse for "thick." The cover system (once again) especially takes a little focus to behave the way you'd like it to, which is a little focus too much. It is severely disappointing to me that the impressive first iteration is getting a "sequel" that is so out of tune with the improvements the genre has witnessed over the past year. Sadly, given how focused the studio was on cranking this chapter out, I cannot say I am overly surprised. Still, the control system is serviceable if not fluid.

The previous video in which Ubisoft tries to convince viewers that there is a myriad of new effects comes off as overcompensation in retrospect, as it seems to me that most of these new effects they present are not apparent--not even after I pop in the first GRAW and find myself not missing what I should have gained in GRAW2. Perhaps the demo didn't highlight those effects enough (not very many buildings, so not much room for complicated depths of shadows, etc). There was one instance--when the friendly helicopter arrives carrying squadmates--when I was particularly underwhelmed, as the bird looked like it was missing half of its textures. On a lighter note, I think that this is one of those things that can easily be touched up on before shipping.

Overall, I feel like this game should be considered something bigger than an expansion, but well short of a full game. Having not seen more of the actual final game I cannot say for certain (maybe the campaign is 15 hours long?), but I have a creeping feeling that the recommended purchase price will fall to the $39.99 realm.

IGN claims that the demo is a piece of the beginning of the final game, which is purportedly the most boring section of the entire experience. I certainly hope that's so. With a month before this game has to be getting print in factories, ultimately, I feel like this build was tried and true, but solid, and has potential to be a considerable blast given good level design and progression. I expect that the development team is directing all effort towards the multiplayer experience. Will the multiplayer game finally resemble a next-generation game? If not, I hope that at least the cooperative campaign is worth more than two hours of novelty. Either of those scenarios would push the title towards the $49.99 category. Team-based matchmaking (a dream, I know), would make it worth the full $59.99.

I was quite surprised by the tearing. I typically ignore such, but this was quite noticable. Anyhow, looks more like GRAW goodness. Not necessarily v.2 worthy name, but still looks like a solid game.

Well... to be honest that's how I like my Ghost Recon... the game has always been slow and 'boring'. I love just being in an open area, with a map and the knowledge that tons of guys are somewhere and you can go around and take out the patrols one by one etc, Ghost Recon has always been a patience person's dream game, a snipers heaven game where you sit there in the trees in a planned out area and wait.

Tried the demo. Seems to be same game as previous GRAW (witch I played a lot). Looks perhaps bit better and camera shakes around more violently. Couple of new features but its the same game. After rs:vegas, peeking system feels really shitty. AI enemies are as dumb as allways on GR games.
Dont think this "map pack" sequel gets me intrested anymore.

I don't see what everyone is complaining about.

They really could have not given us the demo at all.

Being the fact that there is an M4 in the demo is enough for me to absolute fall head over heels for this game.

You do know that once you get the M4 you can run back to the main original camp site and mess around with the M4 for hours and hours.

Also I suggest killing that Ramariz guy and get his Modified M14.

It's just more Grawsome fun. and My god is the M4 ever so sweet.

It's one of the weapons that was Truely missing in R6V.

Graphics were some of the most realistic I've ever seen. Period and guess what it's only a demo.

And so what if it is slow pace maybe your just a speeding idiot....

I love how people are bashing people for giving negative comments about the demo because it's not the final game. We all know it's not the final game, but it's the only playable format of the game at the moment so of course it's going to get criticized. Stop trying to defend what it "could" be or what it "will" be when it comes out, because for now, we can discuss what it "is" at the present time in it's demo form.

And to be honest, there are hardly any games that are drastically different than the demo was. Look at Saints Row ... the tearing in the demo was identical in the final version, as was the framerate.

Demo could have gone in 2 different directions.

One path with the M4 Carbine and the other Rainbow Six Vegas M4 Carbine less.

It completes my grand vision of the Tactical 3rd person Military Shooter, It is imperative that the M4 Carbine is included in the SP this time around.

Literally make or break the game for me. But it is there so I digress.

I for one is tired of playing tactical shooters without the M4 Carbine it makes me sick.

If Socom 4 does not feature the M4 Carbine, I will simply write it off.

Yes I was also glad to see the M4 make its triumphant return. This demo made me a believer once again. I like most of UBI's improvements this time around.

My only concern is with the game's Trigger Functionality. I constantly find myself getting shot because of my gun not firing when I press it over and over again. Apparently it's not programmed like any other FUNCTIONING videogame which activates once pressed at about 25% or so. For some odd reason, UBI wants us to press the triggers in at 100%. I hate this. They better not ship the game like this-- well, unless they did this on purpose to simulate realistic triggers with different sensitivities for each gun...but I'm probably giving them too much credit now, especially since we haven't seen them blabber-on about it in a video =]

FIX IT UBI. Why can't testers ever find simple things like this? Why is it that the most obvious and simple things that just SCREAM, "FIX ME FIX ME FIX ME", RIGHT when I turn on the game for the first time, don't get fixed by the time I'm playing the final code?

Graphics are good, not a major improvement over GRAW, but that was to be expected.
They seem to have tightened up some of the controls which is good, the aiming sensetivity seems to be upped a bit, and selecting weapons and such is quite a bit easier indeed.

But, the AI is really incredibly stupid.
If I take out an enemy at a certain spot with my sniper, what do you think his co-enemy friends do?...they actually take over that very spot the dude I just shot was at, so I don't even have to aim anymore.
All I do is pick one enemy, what for the others to arrive in sight and take them out aswell. This is even worse than the "sitting ducks"! :|

Also, what is all this talk about the wind and smoke interacting with each other and influencing each other, Ubisoft has been on about?
If I throw a smokey right next to the chopper nothing happens, the smoke evolves just the same as it would without the presence of the chopper!

And that demo sucked, I played through it within 10 minutes, way to short!
And to think I've spent over 15 hours on just the Crackdown demo..!

If the game has that, then I'll buy it, and no I haven't played the demo.

KORNdog it's the reason why the PS pro can't exceed the targeted framerates of the base console, even if it is more capable. it would create unfair advantaged. hell, you could argue it does already (3 Hours ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @crookedmind: higher framerates = more responsive controls. pitting someone with a 25-30 fps version of BF4 with someone with a 50-60 fps version of BF4 would be pretty unfair. (3 Hours ago)
