Xbox 360

Activision has announced Viligante 8: Arcade for Xbox Live Arcade, developed by Isopod Labs and planned to be released this spring. The game is a remake of the classic, featuring 8 player online modes and lots of new content. This seems to be Isopod Labs first project, so hopefully they'll do it good! First images inside.

Awwwww yeh.
Someone must have overheard me a few weeks back as I was playing this classic on the n64 and was wishing someone would make another car combat game for the 360 as they're isnt enough of them these days.
Any idea if it is just a remake or if theyre adding anything else like extra maps?

* Five newly designed, highly interactive arenas, using Bezier patch technology for maximum surface smoothness!
* Eight gorgeous, highly varied ‘70s vehicles, rendered using advanced metallic shaders at 10,000+ polygons each
* Classic V8 character personas and unique special weapons
* Six standard weapon pick-ups with three advanced attacks each, featuring both ‘classic’ (combo) and ‘casual’ (charge-up) input methods
* Multiple collectible power-ups and ‘salvage points’
* User-customizable car paint color
* Advanced car physics for hyper-semi-realism and ultra high replay value — easy to pick up, difficult to master!
* Spectacular pyrotechnic, destruction effects, and physics-driven interactive hazards
* Single player modes against advanced bot AI
* Local split-screen modes up to four players
* Online multiplayer with up to eight human players
* Voice and (hopefully) camera support
* Leaderboards, achievements, unlockable secrets, and more!
* Free and premium extra downloadable content planned...

The developers said they were working on this quite some time ago, but it's nice to finally see something of it. Really great game, better than Twisted Metal, IMO.

Yep different devs, but the concept of V8 was based on I76 and authorized by Activision :) -that is the only link i know of though, i don't thing any staff member who worked on I76 worked on the vigilante series-

Looks interesting, but I always wonder, how some publisher/developer (whoever be responsible) can make a choice of a name like that. This name is unspectacular and has not really a value of recognition.

Ps.: Sorry for my english folks, but I hope u all know what I mean ... :)

. . . Headhunter and Rez and Space Channel 5 and Resident Evil Code Veronica and Crazy Taxi and Chu Chu Rocket and D2 and Skies of Arcadia and Seaman and Grandia 2 and Bomberman Online and Soul Calibur and Sonic Adventure and Hydro Thunder and NFL 2K series and NBA 2K series and Virtua Tennis and SEGA Bass Fishing and Guilty Gear X and Maken X and Sword of the Berserk and damned near every 2D and 3D fighter Capcom ever made, and Powerstone and Starlancer and UFC and Bangai-o and House of the Dead and Alien Front Online and Daytona USA and SEGA Rally and Heavy Metal Geomatrix and Record of Lodoss War and Metropolis Street Racer and Toy Commander and Test Drive Le Mans and Samba de Amigo and Elemental Gimmick Gear and Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram and Revolt and F355 Challenge and MDK2 and Unreal Tournament and Dead or Alive 2 and Shadowman and Virtua Fighter 3 and Speed Devils and Rayman 2 and Soul Reaver and TrickStyle and Tokyo Extreme Racer and . . . well I think everyone gets the point. There were tons of great games on Dreamcast. If you missed them, that's no one's fault but your own.

As for V8, glad to see it back. I love the hell out of the Twisted Metal series, but V8 was always a much better experience - even if it was never quite as famous. Now all the V8 love is back, but in a $10 package.

Only makes you wonder, if you can get V8 for a measly $10, why pay $60 for the new Twisted Metal? Perhaps EatSleepPlay are making the new TM game as a $10 PSN title. I mean honestly, knowing I can get V8 for $10 has really put the damper on my picking up TM for $60. This is great news, indeed.

FreeSwag, that response was expected, look at your avatar...but honestly, daytona USA??? looks like you just did a wiki on dreamcast games, but, i will cede there were other good titles, BUT, they had the same titles on other systems, such as the PS2 which did not die, had a friendly controller, and didn't go flop and bankrupt. harsh as that may sound, and this might shock you, its an opinion, so keep your pants on ;)
