Viva Piñata Q&A

Viva Piñata Q&A

Thanks to the Xbox Community Network, we got another great interview to publish this week. This time it's with Justin Cool, designer at Rare and on Viva Piñata. See inside for some thoughts about the 'kiddie game' term, upcoming DLC and promises about more multiplayer features.

i bought it and me and my girlfriend love it... only thing i dislike is the shovel doesnt do bigger patting and bigger digging at once or like the ability to drag the shovel instead of patting and then patting again... other than that its really fun so far me and girfriend get a kick out of it... but i wonder what other multiplayer is coming... sending crates is cool... but i want more....

Also romancing minigames get kinda really boring... i mean isnt their a way to have a thirdparty manage the romancing or something??? I mean minigames are cool but i'd rather disable em and work on the large scale stuff instead... does it happen later in the game anyone know?

When the romance minigame comes on kiss your girlfriend that should work :)

That'll make you anticipate every single romance minigame!

I'm loving this game! I was under the impression that it was going to be an easy game, and really kiddie, but it's actually an EXTREMELY addictive game. If you don't have time to play games, definitely don't pick this one up.. There have been many nights where I've said to myself, I'm going to stop right after I harvest these crops.. Only to find myself 2 hours later still wanting to finish a few more things.. The game is entertaining and fun..

The romancing mini game is actually really cool if you think about it. With every "romantic" encounter, there shouldn't be a guarantee of "conception", just like in real life. It seems as though when you have a lot of a particular pinata, you have less chances to make it through the minigame..

The funny thing is that a few of my friends picked up both GOW and Viva Pinata and have ended up playing VP so much more and talking about it like we've got an actual garden.

Great game Rare, you guys really nailed the FUN component of games.. THANKS!!

I'd have to play a demo of this before I think about buying it, I hope there is one

I feel misled that there aren't more multiplayer options out of the box. The back of the box specifically says "online multiplayer 2", and I seem to recall reading that players would get to visit a friend's garden over Live. So why is it that we can only trade items? Does trading items constitute online play? I don't think so.

INDIGO - > They will make the visiting possible when they have more sales of the game.

About the game

What's up?

KORNdog [url] so cool (20 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog hellblade and ryse both had way more basic combat that literally just centered around weak and strong attacks. there was nothing else there to play around with. (22 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog and then you have the boy, who distracts, staggers and sets you up for more volleys. now compare that to hellblade or ryse...and you honestly can't see the difference? (25 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog then you've got the elements associated with the axe itself, where you can freeze enemies (and i assume other elements will be introduced later too) and do powered up elemental attacks (26 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog there seem to be a decent depth to the combat in god of war. with staggers, shield barges, slow mo air juggles, grabs, axe throws, and standard hacking. (27 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @alimokrane: if you think that looks like ryse then i really don't know what to tell you. doesnt look anything like ryse or hellblade to me outside of a camera angle. (29 minutes ago)
  • AndreasZ94
AndreasZ94 @alimokrane: agree, if the enemy variety is there as well it could be an awesome combat system, especially for an over the shoulder camera game. Camera does zoom out for larger fights btw (59 minutes ago)
