J.R.R. Tolkien would turn in his grave, if he knew how violated his world has become...

I weep....

Why?I think it looks quite good, close to the movies at least.

Anything, Tolkien would be happy that finally a good LOTR game is made within action RPG genre.

I'm with spif2001, this looks dull, both visually and in gameplay terms, a fresh vision not associated with the film versions would be much more interesting.

Violated? I think you should actually research the game more before jumping to such harsh conclusions.

And this is coming from someone who's most likely a much bigger Tolkien fan than you.

You may think so, but I doubt it. I have everything Tolkien and his son has ever published, and I have read The Book of Lost Tales, Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, The Hobbit and LOTR more times than I care to remember. I read The Hobbit back in '84 and dove directly into LOTR after that. The movies, which are pretty but not especially accurate, I have seen 4 or 5 times in the extended version. They are good in their own way, but they do not catch the feel of Middleearth. No - I don't speak elvish, and think people who does have too much spare time.

I have seen plenty of this game, since I have been keeping an eye on it since it was announced. This game has nothing to do with what Tolkien envisioned. It may be a fun hack'n'slash game - maybe even better than the LOTR games for the old Xbox, and hopefully way better than Conquest. That doesn't mean Tolkien would approve it.

I hope I will be proven wrong, and that this game actually can incorporate a true Middleearth vibe, but I seriously doubt it...

droezelke @GriftGFX: The PC community is much more critical. They don't invest in expensive hardware to buy games on a platform that doesn't work for their hardware (5 Hours ago)

droezelke @GriftGFX: I don't believe at all that Windows Store in it's current state can be a succes. (5 Hours ago)

GriftGFX but they're not going to back away from it. That's why the subtle acceptance of UWP is a very real problem. It's mostly the consumer's dumb fault I guess. (5 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Why? He keeps saying they're addressing consumer complaints while avoiding the real issues with the sandbox. Fixing v-sync isn't going to cut it. The whole agenda is fundamentally flawed (5 Hours ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke Spencer should be honest about that by saying it will improve soon. That would be good PR. If Remedy says that they can't optimise for UWP, that should be his concern. (5 Hours ago)

GriftGFX I saw those comments live and I think they're just talk. Talk is cheap. (5 Hours ago)
