Oh this is that video that was released last week, but now in much better quality. Looks good on both.

Saw them earlier on YouTube. Good video to tide us over until the eventual Digital Foundry Face-Off.

Thx guys! Right now i'm looking for a similar setup like Digital Foundrys. I just need the right frame counting software to analyse real frames per second. I found a solution for AE but its not that easy to show the results in a overlay/realtime without a lot of work for every Video. Maybe i have to check out some avisynth scripts. If somebody knows someting in this direction please contact me.

An avisynth plugin certainly could do something like that. This is something I've been thinking about coding myself for quite some time now, but never got around to. Detecting duplicated frames is rather trivial, tearing isn't that much more complex. It would be a nice change to go back to some c++ coding, so I might take a look if you are interested in doing these video comparisons with us :)

Minor shadow discrepancy in the PS4 and XB1 but other than that I don't see a difference.

no AO and more pixelated shadows at a lower res on the bone. that's it visually. curious about the framerate though.

I'd argue the lack of SSAO is not really a minor difference, and the shadows seems of worse quality overall. Having said that... they look pretty much identical otherwise, which is nice.

So all I see in the current gen versions is better lighting, shadows, and textures. And the PS3 version looks pretty damn good, minus a couple trees. This is not a convincing argument to go "next gen" for anyone that hasn't.

A cross gen game was never going to have that sort of swaying power unless you want a better experience playing dated games... You need to wait for the likes of batman in terms of multiplat offerings, but even that is still bound to an old engine.

The answer is simple, we are all gamers and we want to play beautiful games. So if you want to play on a console, you need a "current gen" console. The Ps3 version is good, but if you have a large tv, you will see all the flaws. (Tearing, unstable framerate, missing effects, blurry textures, low res light effects ect.) Watch Dogs has the typical multiplattform problems: it is not a current gen exclusive title...

This. I think when you get to see the differences between the Assassin Creed games this fall you will see why you need a XB1/PS4/PC. Batman/Far Cry/AC will make you pull the trigger on a next gen system, I'm almost certain of it.

And while the next gen stuff isn't off the charts amazing, its definitely better than the last gen offerings.

I just think it's funny that the games that kicked off the next gen hype train like Watch Dogs and Titanfall are really just prettier last gen games when it comes down to it. I know the truly next gen games are on the way. Publishers were afraid to go all in on this new gen so we have to wait a bit for the really stand out games.

I don't even see a point in doing comparisons for last gen games like this. It just makes the new consoles look bad. There isn't much contrast and so it isn't that compelling. Compare Shadowfall to Killzone3 though, and you see a stark difference. We need more new console exclusive games. In due time.

First of all, Im glad the difference between PS and BX is not that big on multiplats as it was last gen. This is great to me.

About the game: Im a little disappointed with the reviews so far. I thought the game would have much more variety and would be more dynamic, which seems is not the case. From what Ive seen feels like a weaker GTA version set in a different time and place. I wont buy it... at least untill the price drops big.

I know it is, fellow KORNdog, but somehow it doesnt shows in this big multiplat tittles.

I mean, we can see the difference in favor of PS in those videos, but I remember to see way much bigger differences last gen. I guess it has to do with devs work. Even tho Im mainly a PS guy when it comes to games, this is something that makes me happy.

aside from maybe bayonetta i'm not sure what game you could see bigger differences in?

across various games so far this gen we're talking missing effects (SSAO, bokeh DOF, paralax mapping) lower resolution shadows, worse AA etc all while running at a lower framerate AND a lower resolution. last gen you where talking single digit framerate differences and the likes of 680p compared to 720p.

Like I said, I know, but even with all that devs are doing a great job in my opinion.

Maybe it will get worst when the "only current gen games" start coming out, I dont know. And yes man, I remember to see UNREAL differences last gen, Six vegas, GTA4, RE5... oh, so many tittles I cant even mention all in a single comment. Just the difference in framerate, AA and shadows alone in some multiplats tittles last gen was absurd. I dont see that now.

PS: good thing the exclusives saved the day big time.

Game is fun. I've put about 8 hours into it so far, and I still haven't gotten bored. There are a few small gameplay kinks here and there, but overall it's pretty intuitive. The game seems like GTA mixed with Assassin's mixed with inFamous. I know it's an open world game, but it seems like everything is too open. I've unlocked pretty much most of what I want to unlock and I haven't even played 3 story missions.

I did see two versions (ps4 and ps3) and i noticed a BIG difference! Resolution framerate and no screentear on PS4 DOES feel much much much better. Gameplay feels way better with the new dualshock! I am glad i have the PS4 version. Xbone version seems to look great too!

I noticed the textures weren't as sharp on his turtle neck on the XB. I'm sure there's a lot of that throughout the game but I doubt anyone would really noticed. Lack of AO is evident.
