X05: Peter Jackson to be executive producer on Halo The Movie

X05: Peter Jackson to be executive producer on Halo The Movie

Big shock ! Peter Jackson just announced that he will be executive producer on Halo The Movie, as WETA will handle the SFX. He precised that he was a big fan of the series, and that he spent nights finishing the second episode during the shooting of King King.
[ERRATUM]: Sorry for the wrong news, misunderstanding between Blimblim and me.

You should mention that WETA will be doing the effects work aswell! They are the current kings of Hollywood CG (and they are from New Zealand!)

King Kong
I, Robot
Van Helsing
Return of the King
The Two Towers
Fellowship of the Ring
Contact
The Frighteners
Heavenly Creatures

They are milking Halo for every cent! The game sucks and the movie will too, even though Peter Jackson freaking rocks.

Great news!
Now all it needs is Alex Proyas as director, or Terry Gilliam.

or Chistopher Nolan

Yeah...keyword: MIGHT. As far as im concerned, this movie is pretty much going to suck regardless due to its stupid story...and seeing as how it will most likely be one of those "CG" movies, I think i'll just wait for it to come out on DVD and rent it. Final Fantasy anyone??

You can't compare. At least, Halo'll have a real crew, with a real producer and a real (hope so) director. FF:AC was just a toy for rich game conceptors to play with.

Yeah and Final Fantasy Advent Children rocked after their Spirits Within mistake so thats not a great analogy.

Im talking about Spirits Within...that movie sucked. Most video game movies suck...the only one that looks decent is Doom, and even that is questionable. Look at Resident Evil, both of those movies sucked...I don't think games should be made into movies...with the exception of Splinter Cell because thats realistic and would be a cool movie...

The Halo motion picture will be helmed by Neill Blomkamp, making his feature film debut. Blomkamp is widely regarded as one of the most innovative and original artists currently working in short films and commercial advertising. Halo will be distributed domestically by Universal and internationally by Fox. Visual effects, miniatures, and creature design and creation will all be handled by Jackson's award-winning Weta Digital Ltd. and Weta Workshop, Ltd., most recently known for their Oscar-worthy work on The Lord of the Rings films.

A native of South Africa, Blomkamp directed the acclaimed 2005 short film, Alive in Joburg, that depicted a future in which extraterrestrials have become refugees. Last year, Blomkamp also received three Clio Awards and a Visual Effects Society Award for his television commercial Citroen-Alive with Technology. In 2004, Blomkamp was recognized as "One of the Top Five Directors to Watch" at the First Boards Awards and was a featured artist at the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors Showcase at Cannes. He has also been nominated for an Emmy award for his work on an episode of James Cameron's Dark Angel.

Megido @Sdarts: Don't hate on pixel art you douche :) (21 minutes ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz @Sdarts: Industry Icon is not usually for one game, but your contribution to the gaming industry I feel. There are several developers that I feel deserved it before Kojima I should have said. (23 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX And heck one of my main complaints about the Monkey Island 1 remake is that you can't play the talky version with the OG graphics. Pixels don't offend me. (24 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX A GOG version would be.. pretty much ScummVM. And you totally do not need HD assets to enjoy LucasArts games. Played Sam & Max Hit the Road like two months ago. It's still beautiful. (24 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts If only GOG had a version. Either way, an HD remaster made just to work with new systems and some HD assets is all I need. (27 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts @Megido: Lost the CD a long time ago between movings. I have used ScummVM and VirtualBox before, but playing though a window or fullscreen at very low resolutions does more harm than good. (29 minutes ago)
  • Megido
Megido @Sdarts: If you have the original you can just play it with ScummVM :) (44 minutes ago)
