I don't know.. if they know what they want to achieve maybe they should achieve some of it before marketing the game instead of showing people the same tech demo over and over again. This just seems really premature to me. But we live in an early access world these days I guess.

there is a reason the comments sections for this game are full of NMS comparisons.

I said it on the previous page Korn, but I feel like this looks a lot like Fable

Fable always had this grand scope but it was always really shallow. Even the character models are reminiscent I think

Your guess is as good as mine. Rare have said that the ship combat is the part of the game that works the most.

It is undoubtedly early, but not everyone is as patient as R* and to a certain degree, Bethesda, everyone should be as patient as these guys, but it'll be a long time before the industry follows suit.

Well I don't think they need to debut a finished product, but I don't think this is really typical either. It feels like a prototype.

They have said that all they're showing is this prototype in quite a few interviews so you're totally right about that. It looks fun, but until they show the hook, we can't confirm the aim.

I don't think that's a very effective way to market a game and it doesn't fill me with confidence.

If it stays like this through the beta and all the way to launch, I'll be right there with you.

There are people excited about it purely on the basis of it being pirates, I'm excited about it because of the prospect of sailing the high seas with a bunch of buddies and a lot of other stuff they've only spoken about. The ideas sound great, just waiting for confirmation on the execution.

A very informative listen-in to where they are at with Sea of Thieves, it's quite long, but I found the most important parts were at 12:17-13:45 and then again from 22:00 to about 28:00.

You can listen to the whole thing if you want, but those bits were what I found to be most relevant.

does this game already is on sale?? i cant find anything about this game! I have seen some videos and trailers but nothing else.
looks set to be a huge exclusive for Microsoft and a potential console-seller. Let's just hope we get a release date soon though, because the wait now will be agonising.

The Esprit that Rare Replay emits is still very "Rare" - sure, a lot of the old talent is gone, but they aquired new talent, lots of money invested there.

The difference is that we can see a clear influence on the genre by ID and Wolf 3D. I don't really see the genre taking much inspiration from goldeneye as you know, FPS gaming on PC had basically evolved beyond Goldeneye already.
