Cool, I didn't even know this was out. I saw the first look on GiantBomb from the Canadian beta about a week ago, and I must say, I am intrigued. I mean I'm not a big fan of the show or anything (even though Bob Saget owns), but I do like trivia.. and it's free! Plus we have the premise of real life prizes.

I'm down.

PS. The mob can win prizes too.

I know when you're playing as a crowd member(not in the Mob), you have such a short time to answer that it's not really possible to Google anything. Also, you get more points for answering faster, and a bonus for getting an "Instant Answer." Not only can the One and the Mob win, but the high scorer in the crowd wins as well. It's definitely a lot harder to win in the crowd as you're playing against a lot more people. I think there were over 16,000 people playing last night...so I mean, that's a lot of people you have to be more accurate and quicker than.

As for the One and the Mob, I'm not sure how it works, but I imagine there's some form of timer in place that renders Google useless.

what i want to know is if the game is going to be regionalised. the last thing i want to come across playing from the UK, is some obscure US question only an american would know.

That's good. It sounds interesting, I just thought it might have been ruined by cheating. When it's available here I'll give it a try.

As a member of the mob you are also awarded bonuses for the speed in which you input correct answers, which only serves to make cheating even harder. I imagine if you could somehow hijack that computer that IBM is developing to compete on Jeopardy and modify it for 1v100.. well then you're probably a master thief and a computer genius and have better things to do with your time :P

I'm not sure about this. I know as a member of the crowd you get bonuses for answering quickly as winning as part of the crowd is dependent on points. As a member of the Mob though, winning depends solely on not answering incorrectly.

No. The Mob is the 100 people playing against the One. The crowd is everyone else who isn't the Mob or the One.

There are other people playing outside of the 100? It seemed like they were receiving bonuses for inputting their answers before the other people in their group in the mob on Giant Bomb's first look.. could be wrong though. Regardless, it's definitely too fast paced to cheat.

Yeah. The other night when over 16,000 people were in the game, it's not like 15,899 of them were just watching. The crowd members actually have their own scores. You get points for answering correctly, answering quickly, answering instantly, and your streak of correct answers acts as a multiplier that applies to the number of Mob members that get knocked out each round. The high scorer in the crowd wins a prize.

Seeing as how the One and the Mob are just trying to outlast each other, I'm not sure what purpose bonuses would serve.

And yeah, it is definitely too fast to cheat.

Well.. in Giant Bomb's vid it appeared as if the mob didn't actually split the winnings if The One lost, but rather the top 3 contestants from the mob won some kind of prize (as in an XBLA game or 800 points or something). This is all second hand stuff though.. I haven't tried it myself. What's the deal with this demo... I never even saw any info about it on the dash?
